Best Dressed Awards 2011

Post by robotthepirate »

I thought it would be fun to run another little competition, so:
Have the greatest webcomic website on the forum? Time to find out.

The rules are simple.
You have 2 months from today to submit your interest in the competition and make any changes you need to your website. (9th November)
You submitted website has to be for running a webcomic, if the webcomic section is a smaller subsection of the website, we'll only judge that bit.
You don't have to be hosting on Comic Genesis but you do have to be an established, active (or previously active) member of the forum, or become one before the 9th.
You have to have designed and built the site yourself.

Also, you'll have to commit to not radically changing your website on or just after the 9th so we can judge it.

Judging.
I'll need at least 2 volunteers, preferably 4 who don't want to compete and who can be unbias judges. I also intend to be one.
Websites will be judged out of 10 on:
Welcome: How accessible they are to new users?
Navigation: Is it obvious how to move through the archive, get to bonus content, etc.?
Originality: Most of us have seen a lot of webcomic websites, what's different about yours?
Theme: How well does the site design fit the mood of the comic?

Anything else?

Rule are subject to change based on popular opinion. Or scrapped if you all think this is a dreadful idea.

I guess this would give me a reason to finish the things on my site that have been languishing for a year. Also, could use a critique of how an outsider sees the site. Count me in.

This is awesome. Not sure if I'll submit my own, but I can try my hand at judging if there isn't enough interest (and if i don't wind up submitting mine). I've been meaning to fix my site up a little, perhaps this will provide some incentive.

My website may not be ready by that time (I'm so busy levelling up my patapons), but this is a very cool idea and it could motivate me to finally fill all the unfinished webpages with something interesting.

This sounds fun =D My website isn't anywhere near being ready, so I'd be happy to help judge if you need it

This is a neat idea, but I'm terrible at this sort of thing. All of my pages are pure function over form.

Since there's only a handful of us here, it would be a good idea to enter even if you think your site isn't fabulous enough or the whole thing will end up with 10 judges and no contestants  My site isn't gonna be super fancy either.

Melons are usually an attractor on the internet.

Anyway...given I could use input on my main site design, count me in! Although...there are some links that go no where. Oh well, as yeahduff said...motivation to fix things.

Yes. It makes sense what you said. I'm going to blame my dyslexia for this one.
