Hey Dutch!
I just came back too. I recommend you grab yourself some sort of weapon 'cause there's zombie spambots all around.

...and they bit Cope already.

No fear. There aren't any zombies in Australia.

The bunyips have eaten them all.

(P.S. Hey, Dutch! :D :D)

A bunyip is a water spirit of Aboriginal Dreamtime mythology that seems to be in the form of a large water creature of some sort, most reports suggesting with a doglike head. Pretty much the Australian representative of the cryptoid family that includes Bigfoot et al.

Didn't you watch "Dot and the cangaroo"? It has a song about bunyip.

It's a great little Australian animated movie that I watched every week as a kid. It had like a buttload of sequels, but only the first one holds up to standards of an adult.

Animated over live footage/backgrounds.
It was a staple of any Aussie childhood in the 80s.

Aw, Dot and the Kangaroo.

Brings back memories of 'head and tailing' as a kid with your mate in their bed during a sleepover through the night after watching that movie on the little portable telly rigged up in the corner with the windows open to let in the cool night breeze and the mosquitos.

Thanks. :)

I don't really know anything about art, but a friend of mine is involved. I thought, why not start myself. At first i am sure that they will be quite poor in quality, but i am hoping to get some pointers from everybody here.

My comic would not be story based but rather based on anecdotes on the boy scouts since i am an eagle scout. Anyway, I hope to start up soon so that i can show you all.

i have not put TOO much thought into it, hence coming to this forum. But for starters, i can compare boy scout camp to any other camp...
1) Spa camp (i have a friend who actually went to one of these) vs sleeping on the ground
2) horseback riding camp vs running from bears
3) air conditioned cabins vs greenhouse affect tents
4) Eaten alive by mosquitoes while cooking on a campfire vs eating at a 5 star restaurant on a cruise

And some not based on camps
1) i know of a scout who was 15 years old and could not tie his shoes, however, he knows all the knots up to first class.

A few others, but that is the gist of it. THoughts?

Sounds like a niche worth exploring, lots of opportunity for observational and situational humor. You don't need amazing art to start a comic, the top 100 webcomics include stick-figures, sprites, flat-vector, and clip-art among the hand-painted stuff. There's lots of advice available for starting webcomics, including a lot on this forum, sounds like you are on the right track for looking for some. You can trust me, I have like 18 readers for my 10-year-old comic so I know what I'm talking about.

As this appears to be an "introduction" thread of sorts, I will post here. :)

Hi! I'm Ryn. I'm new here. I am still working on setting up my really horrible looking site yet. D: I haven't built a website in quite a number of years and have found that I'm beyond rusty at it. Any pointers are welcome (I use FileZilla and have been reading over the CG tutorials/wikis/help forums for the last few days). I'm glad to be here, however, and hope to make a good addition to this very large community. :)

I'm not usually part of the welcoming committee but I'm sure someone else will be along soon to say hello.

Welcome committee just phoned, they're stuck at the airport because of the fog. They said that Scooby was doing a good job and told him to proceed.
