It was to get lazy people going, it started as a contest between Dawg and TLH who both had terrible update schedules at the time. This is why people like War, TLH, me, and others joined.

It's also more strict than the Iron Man one since you can post terrible filler stickmen and still be in THAT.

I object to the stereotypification of stickmen as "filler."

Yes, stereotypification. I like making up words.

And cool, looking forward to a lot of comics in here.

I'm not sure your characters count as stickmen.

Fat-headed anorexics in loose clothing maybe.

Denial is not falsification. You can't avoid a fact just because you don't like it.

Ryan, we don't call the new kids rejects until they get at least triple digit posts. By then, they're too stuck to run off offended.

I agree with what RA said about the lazy grind being more for lazy people who can't update on time. It's a bit unfair for those with entirely smaller amounts of lazy to be in it, because it's not a challenge for them.

Also, I'll be in your 2x a week uber lazy grind as soon as I fail out of the 3x a week one. ;)

I think I'm really more fit for something like the "1xyear Grind".

Plus, it wouldn't hurt me any to go up against Bob.

There's a difference between filler stickmen and comic stickmen. The latter usually have style, whereas the former are done just to be finished quickly.

Cases in point.
This is going in my notebook titled "Things I Didn't Know about Surface Dwellers."

Stickmen are always filler to me.

What Merc means is that we want a more consistant level of effort put into the comics. If you can get your comic done in the time you spend on the crapper* then the Lazy Grind isn't really for you.

*Unless you're really really constipated.

Nah, it's OK, I've got thicker skin than that.

And maybe I should have made it clearer, but I was just joking about the whole stickmen=filler thing. I knew what you meant by that.

I would like to chime in and mention that my own past update record of the past year and a half (5 a week, without fail and with the occasional weekend update) is no indication of future performance. Then, I was posting old, even ancient work. Now, I'm doing new updates which are taking me many hours to do.
I'm convinced I can get a little bit faster, especially during the line art stage of the work, so that's what I'm trying to train myself for now.

I'm in a similar boat, reinder. I started to do backgrounds, which takes me like a million hours, and then of course there's the whole, "Didn't update during entire time in Japan" thing. The grind is the impetus that is pushing my lazy ass into begging, borrowing, and beating time out of myself and possibly others to get myself a buffer going. Woooo!
