And that's why XKCD is the least popular comic on the entire internet.

That guy wrote:The success of Seinfeld proves Yeaduff right, of course. You can be about nothing in particular and still be wildly popular.
Seinfeld wasn't really about nothing in particular, they just said that. It was really about human behavior. And it definitely had a direction. There was clearly a lot of thought that went into the concept.

Everybody keeps saying this. Probably because it's true.

Yes. They started out with a lot of principals and ideas and mostly stayed true to them. What I mostly meant was that sometimes you just start talking, and eventually a good idea comes out and you can then run with it. No need to stay silent till the idea shows up, as the talking might be what pries it out.

I guess. I think it's more like your drawing needs to work with your writing, and vise versa. Two are necessarily tied, so if they don't match up, your comic is going to be very difficult to deal with. This is visual storytelling: never underestimate the importance of your drawing.

I think that it's just because it is simple to say and sounds catchy. Why people always need to try to sum up complicated things into two catchy sentences is a thing to ponder, but relation between art and writing regarding appeal to the audience, is much more complicated than that.

Well, it is true… I don't think anybody's implying that it fully sums up the the entire subject of the relative importance of art and writing in comics.

sometimes a gimmick is sufficient to get you past the good art thing.

OpenCanvas is another art program, that blends some of the features of Photoshop (layers, filters, stuff like that) with the pretty colorings of Corel Painter. It's awesome.

It's about fluff, angst, drama, comedy, gaming. Come play in our world.

Okay, good luck with your comic. Remember to use the Step-by-Step guide, and the other reference things we got lying around here.
