Not that it is anything to brag about, but I think I may just be slower than you.RemusShepherd wrote:18 hours a page. Didn't we have this discussion before? And wasn't I the slowest last time, too?

I spend entire days just penciling and erasing my crappy anatomy until I get it right, then if I want to make it look good, I ink over it once, erase pencil, then ink again to do different line widths, and then spend a long time coloring on photoshop, tweaking, arranging and shading. Of course all the while I'm taking breaks on the internet. I haven't timed it, but it takes a good 4 days and depending on how big or detailed the page is, somewhere between 12 to 24 hours (not counting procrastination time).

...it still won't be as weird as my current chapter. The Neko wrote:Well, you'd be drawing faster, but when you sober up and see what you've been drawing...RemusShepherd wrote:McDuffies, are you blowing fairy dust in my face to make me forget, or cocaine to make me draw faster?

I knew there was a reason why the girls liked you the best.JTigerclaw wrote:Not that it is anything to brag about, but I think I may just be slower than you.

i update so hard!
Heh, well I don't know about all that. But I do know that if somehow you were actually referring to girls that read my webcomic, than I'm pretty sure they prefer it fast, hard, and at least 3 times a week.
(talking about updating my comic of course. I don't have webcomic groupie fangirls crawling all over me...)
yet.

I don't have them either. Don't worry. I have the Fish, the rabid fan boy, as my sole vocal fan. I have Latin with him every morning and he pesters me about updates. You can have himJTigerclaw wrote:What.... is it just me?Plague wrote:Oh...you mean everybody doesn't have those?(talking about updating my comic of course. It takes me between 10-12 hours from script to finish, provided I don't have an exam or two in between.

Wow. I'm glad that we're not the slowest ones here. I thought we would be.
For us, it depends on if it's a good day or not. On a good day, we could sketch out two pages and ink them both. Good days rarely happen.
On bad days, like I've had the last few days, nothing seems to work like it should, and the page gets stuck somewhere along the way, usually in sketching. Pages 99-100 has been in the pipeline just a bit too long, and page 101 is starting to slowly take shape.
Can't say how long it takes on average.

About ten-fifteen minutes to script and draw crappy layout thumbnails, about an hour to pencil (more if I decide to get fancy with perspective or elaborate backgrounds), about ten minutes to letter, about an hour and a half to ink (again, more if the background or perspective is all elaborate.)
When I started it was about three hours to draw no matter how complicated it was (and perspective, fancy backgrounds, or elaborate poses/faces, forget 'em), then I got faster (about 75 minutes), then I got more complicated and so got slower.

Speaking of which your current chapter skips stuff. When did Foil become a Shaman and know how to do all this stuff? How'd he track Lee down so easily?RemusShepherd wrote:...it still won't be as weird as my current chapter. The Neko wrote:Well, you'd be drawing faster, but when you sober up and see what you've been drawing...RemusShepherd wrote:McDuffies, are you blowing fairy dust in my face to make me forget, or cocaine to make me draw faster?
... and do you know that the WebSense monster has labelled your comic adult-oriented and refuses to let me read it from work anymore?

holy crap there are some speedy artists here!! actually I don't have a accurate count myself for the drawing as I do it at work between calls and some nights I get more work in than others, but I'm not constantly drawing.
though I'd estimate that on a large page style comic it can take me between 6-8 hours.
Inking is usually pretty quick and if I'm lucky I can do it in about 3 hours.
Coloring can take me anywhere between 8-12 hours...
I been working on getting faster though!

Hmmn? I didn't mean to skip anything. Foil has been trying to be a shaman since page one.rkolter wrote:Speaking of which your current chapter skips stuff. When did Foil become a Shaman and know how to do all this stuff? How'd he track Lee down so easily?
If you think anything needs explaining, PM me and I'll see if I can slide it into the story. This is an exposition chapter, though.
You're not the first person to tell me that.... and do you know that the WebSense monster has labelled your comic adult-oriented and refuses to let me read it from work anymore?

I tend to do my comics all in one step on a tablet from start to finish...
Layout Pencils: 1 hour
Base Inking: 30 minutes
Depth Inking: 20 minutes
Base Color: 1 hour
Shading/Finalization: 45 minutes
Lettering/balloons: 15 minutes
So overall about 4 hours, give or take 30 minutes based on how complex it is.

Know, Rkolter, that other people also suffer under the horrible rule of content filters!
I have Cybersitter, which besides blocking perfectly acceptable sites also edits my forum posts!
Among the words it cuts for no apparent reason:
