Why Shonen-ai (Boys Love) and Yaoi (hardcore boy's love)???

It's not just that the girl in question is fat in my scenario. It's usually the person who is overweight, but doesn't know how to carry herself, and attempts to dress in "provocative" clothing, usually clothing they can't fit into. The problem is that it acheives the exact opposite effect. And they also try to talk about sex and sexuality at you all the time, and you just think "oh god I do not want to imagine that this person has a sexual identity".

I had plenty of overweight friends who knew how to carry themselves, and that was fine and they could actually make themselves look pretty good. But when you have the girl with rosecha and the beginnings of musctache who is spilling out of her clothing, talking incessantly about dildos and all that, it just sucks.

I once went to a party of a 'friend of a friend'. I walked in and the place was filled with these huge ugly women. They were all watching Pirates of the Carribean and eating junk food and some were seriously... just not talking, all they did was stare... and the others were talking about how the main pirate Sparrow guy wanted to get it on with the other guy in it, and how hot it would be. They all had on horrible t-shirts of movies and stuff with hot guys on them and it was horrible, horrible, horrible. There were like fifteen of them. I wouldn't talk like that in front of virtual strangers and it wasn't like they were drunk or anything.

I ended up hiding in the toilet and then I pretended to be interested in someone's computer and then I RAN THE FRIK AWAY.

Anyway I know what Neko's talking about when he refers to those kind of women. I think fat chicks are gorgeous, really gorgeous, though, so when I talk about 'those' kinds of women I usually call 'em nerds. I guess we just focus on different physical characteristics that really identify these types. I suppose I could invent a new word for them like Burglehumpers. That might be better.

Nerdy, unattractive people never spit on me during a pep rally. They never broke into my locker and vandalized it, or attempted to push me down the stairs, or spread viscious rumors, or in fact, committed any acts of deliberate cruelty. I wish I could say the same about the so-called beautiful people.

Nerdy, unattractive people have consistently bitched behind my back, behaved inappropriately towards me, and generally done their best to make my life hellish or just, well, freaking embarrassing. I would not have been so completely angry and critical of the girls mentioned above - I'd have figured they were a bit unfortunate, but would get a life soon when they grew out of the yaoi worship - if I hadn't found out from a girl who was also there (my old housemate) that once I'd left the "party", the whole bunch of them spent the rest of the night slagging me out. Because obviously ripping on me was far more entertaining that talking about yaoi.

I don't know why. I didn't even KNOW them. I was anything but polite.

I've had way too many bad experiences with nerds to be around groups of them any more - they're just not my kind of people, and they make it hella clear that I'm not 'their' kind of people either. Way too freaking cliquey.

I tend to dislike people by default. Once get to know them I either continue to dislike them, or start liking them.

I try to judge people individually and not by whatever "type" they're meant to belong to.

Some people may surprise you once you get to know them... But that would require effort, right?

Well, the only type of love story I can relate to is boy & girl. Anything else doesn't do anything for me really.

well i don't mean you in specific, just the general genre and people's outlooks on it, you know, what people who enjoy it get out of it. I can say with some certainty that guys who watch lesbian porn are not doing so for the love story. heck, not even for the story.

I always thought from what I hear that shonen-ai is more of a love story and yaoi more like porn? I'm not an expert though, so correct me if I'm mistaken.

the general understanding is that BOYS LOVE (shonen ai) usually covers the topic of boys flirting with each other and goes no further than kissing and fondling while yaoi.. :x gets serious and there's usually hardcore stuff.

I've had a look, there are a lot of thesis-y things on that stuff. I'd search the web, really. I can't find anything on the 'rape' thing I mentioned earlier, although I do know a lot of people use it to get over their issues with men/rape.

There are somethings that some of you brought up that are really interesting and I'll definitely be investigating further into it.
