I'll agree with you on that. It's always "I'm right, if you dissagree with me you must be wrong" and everythings so black and white with it.
But I wont complain too much because I'm in it's exclusive "Maths is fun" club. Though A level (age 17/18) put me off it with Pure maths that takes all the numbers out of it, and all the fun is in the numbers.

Math is terrible.

Kids aren't going to just read Shakespeare on their own. Because they're stupid.

There's nothing wrong with Maths until you hit her Calculus stage, then it's time to back away really slowly.

Also, yes.

Math is definitely more fun when you take the numbers out of it.

Often people would joke "maths aren't important for life" Now I have to draw stuff to scale, with measurements, and I see fractions for weeks at a go.

I do maths visually. I end up thinking of every maths based question as some sort of visual representatation like a bar or pie chart, regardless of whether that is what I'm supposed to be doing, and without any actual numbers based calculations going on, I often end up with the right numbers. Fractions and percentages I'm eerily good at. Teachers picked up on this when I was at school and stuck me in the top group for maths, assuming I understood the priciples behind my eerily accurate "calculations".

Exams nowadays require you to show your working out. This did not bode well for me.
I think I still hold the record for being the only child in the history of that school to have EATEN their GCSE maths exam paper. (not a joke).

in all seriousness, I left school with no proper maths grounding at all, and now am in a posistion where I have to do company banking on a regular basis.

I have to use math. Lots of it. Usually adding and subtracting plus some multiply and dividing. But usually it results in lots and lots of spreadsheets. I recently had to use geometry for calculating the estimated perimeter of a base so I'd know how much concertina wire to calculate for.

But I digress and so do all of you because what is seriously lacking is photos of people:

A group picture at my friend's wedding (the one wearing the rest tie and undercoat).
Most of them are my high school gang (and even then, not all of them could come to the wedding).

And one with Joani...

So the stereotype about Frenchmen closing the eyes when they're being photographed is true?

But the rest are french but their eyes are opened.... But it would be an interesting hypothesis.

I admit I had never heard that one...but it is possible!
Cope wrote:Stage fright?
Ironically, I am frightened by going onstage until I remove my glasses. Then I'm too blind to see anyone.
Warren wrote:Flash units that use lasers instead of a normal xenon lamp?
One more thing I learned today! I didn't know flash unit could be used with lasers... Does it do laser eye surgery or does it only blind someone permanently?
