I said to myself, "Self," I said, "Let's sit down peacefully and start to do your homework." But then I decided to go online first. And someone on another forum said something that infuriated me so much that I started to shake, and I typed back a reply, and I don't think they'll reply yet and I'm not sure if anyone else will, but jesus fucking CHRIST that was not what I needed to read before peaceful homework time :( I'm still pissed off now, and I just want someone to reply to say that I'm right so that I can calm down, but I don't think it'll happen. If anything the infuriating poster will post a dismissive reply that will only make me more angry, and, knowing me and my lack of willpower, I will check to read it right before I go to bed, and the cycle will start anew.

I don't even understand why it made me so mad. It's not one of my normal fury-trigger topics.

Oof, and now it turns out i was misreading the person and we agree after all. Oy. Look, when you use needlessly incendiary language, I'm going to assume you're not that bright. Which is going to make me assume we aren't going to agree on things.

I used to be in the same place as you, Cornpone. I've learned to just let things go more often, because you can't fix stupid. The best thing you can do is just get yourself distracted by something else, but of course that rarely works.

Just finished cleaning the last room in my apartment. I officially clear out tomorrow, and while the apartment isn't in pristine condition, I expect I'll get back most of the security deposit. One more major step towards clearing Germany and my return to the States.

I used to be a real drama queen. I probably am still, except there's less things to be dramatic about.

It's the truth. I made some tea for myself and just willed myself not to think of it (going so far as to turn off the wireless so I couldn't access the internet). As I get older, I hope I'll stop caring. Or at least caring about bullheaded internet arguments.

(I am glad the internet exists as it is a very useful tool, but I think I would have been a much calmer person in the pre-internet world :P )

I've got to remember that when I encounter religious bigots - and all bigots really - but that kind of blind hatred just gets me angry.

I think it's all because of lack of non-verbal communication. We read things wrong all the time, even when we're aware that we're probably reading something wrong, we can't help it. People appear more jerky than they are in real life.

Not to mention that a-holes tend to proliferate in an environment of anonymity.
People feel free to say whatever they like when there's no immediate consequences or physical interaction.

Well even trolls deserve the power of communication.

Today I ship my car for America. In 6-8 weeks, it should arrive. Which means for like 5-7 of those weeks I'll be using a friggin rental car I have to pay for. Yaaaay....

In other news, my plan to geekify the Army one unit at a time appears on track. One of the people who played in my going away game, it was her second game and she lamented to me that it was only as I was leaving that we got a good game going. But, I pointed her and the others in the direction of an RPG/gamers group I helped found that meets at the nearby air base every other weekend. Hopefully in a couple months I'll hear via Facebook how they've gotten together and started a campaign and all that wonderfulness.

I intend to do the same during my 6 months at Fort Lee, and I've already found my first sucker-I mean player. :D

I read somewhere that in an environment of anonyminity and lack of accountability, people are freer to be their true selves, since they're no longer bound by social conventions and rules of propriety. So, in other words, if they're a-holes online, they're more than likely a-holes in person if given the chance. Considering people in general, I can see that.

I dunno. I think that internet bedside manners get to be learned just like ordinary bedside manners. I think novices often act seemingly like assholes because they don't know proper etiquette and write their posts hastily and too open to interpretation.
(Btw I think that conventions and rules of propriety one adheres to are a part of his true self. Some people choose to say nasty things. Others decide not to. That decision surely accounts for something personality-wise, if anything because of motivation behind saying or not saying something)
But anyways my impression over the years is that most of conflicts come out of misunderstanding. It's hard to level your message not to appear too aggressive on one side, and not condescending on the other. On the other hand, people adjust their behaviour as a response to someone else's behaviour, so if you feel someone is approaching you agressively, you instinctively rise the level of agression, and if you percieve someone is being an asshole to you, you start being asshole to him. That's how conflicts escalate, and often none of the sides realize how their posts are being percieved by the other side.

Unless its just for comical reasons I usually let things die once it becomes more a ego to opinion conversation. I learned long ago, that some battles just aren't worth winning. I do however love to feed trolls, but that falls back to funny stuff.

I was going to go to bed early tonight. I was going to write up a review for someone I promised to do weeks ago, and be done with that around 10 or 10:15, and then take my shower, do some homework, and go to bed.

But then the workman came to fix the clog in our shower, which was really good and nice of him to get here at such a late hour and everything. And it's good he got here because it was really a massive bunch of hair, larger than a squirrel I would say. But then he left and all the muck was in the shower from the hair being pulled out, and the floor was filthy from the puddles of water that have been accumulating there from the clog, so I tried to wipe up as much as I could. And I kknow realistically that the shower is probably all clean and all better now, but I'm having like a cooties thing with it and want to wait until at least the floor is dried.

Maybe I should go to bed without a shower, but I hate doing that :( and I still want to finish the review, and still need to do the homework...

Lysol, bleach, or some other massive disinfectant. Apply liberally, and the smell of chemicals will put you at ease.

I'm leaving Germany within the hour. Leaving behind my friends, my girlfriend, and a lot of fond memories. I'll be in Virginia until late August, so whoever is out in that neck of the woods...look out!

Feeling like shit, confused, qondering if I should just give up on this whole webcomic business and stick to writing.
Actually crying (can't f*cking believe that).
Don't even know what to say right now, just feel like swearing and ranting...
