The Mission From Hell is now over. It wasn't that it was 1 week long, that was fun. It was that above my level everything was being conducted with little to no regard for Soldier welfare and safety. If I wasn't so exhausted, I'd be more upset than I am.

You haven't drawn any half-naked half-dragons in a while.
Ah, then one half dragon coming up.

Wait, will you draw anything just because we tell you to?

I can't help but notice you haven't drawn any totally naked moogle girls in a while, also. :D

Criminal enterprise? You could make that in a few muggings, knocking over a couple quik-e-marts or maybe robbing a bank.

There's just never enough shit in a shit pie.
"Hi, I was accepted into the film course, I need an acceptance letter to extend my visa"
"Ok"
A month of complete radio silence
"Oh hi yeah so uh can we get your request form to change course"
"I... I sent that in a month ago, I'm already in the course, I just want to get my letter of acceptance"
"Ok hang on forwarding this to international admissions"
Nothing for ages
"Oh hi, uh, we lost that form, someone found it snuggled under a desk now though so its getting processed"
"Oh hi hi again, we processed your form, NOW we're sending you to international admissions again"
"Look I'm leaving day after tomorrow, I need this freakin' letter, I just want to extend my study permit"
"Hi Roberto,

Thanks for your quick reply. I have made the necessary changes to your file. The new offer package will be mailed out tomorrow for program for the winter 2010 intake for program 6409 ARt & Design Foundations. "

Thank you, you stupid bitch. Thank you for checking my file, thinking that I was transferring from Art and Design Foundations to Art and Design foundations, and without questioning it just go YEAH OH MAKES SENSE LOL, along with a little thanks for enrolling me in the wrong course. It just wouldnt have been as impressive if you hadn't signed me up for the course I'd just fucking finished. Thank you for sending the letter TOMORROW so that it'd probably show up here a week after I leave the country. Maybe they could time it to ironically appear once my visa expires! Thank you for ignoring me saying I needed the letter sent by email.
Thank you most of all for screwing me over the ten billionth time because you know that I don't have any alternatives lined up. Fuck you all, go get dicked.

He already draws dragons and sexy pinups without prompting, so it's not much a stretch. Then again, he also draws moogles... so your chances aren't terrible.

I'm going to be moving to Maine soon, after living my entire life in places where snow does not exist. I expect I'll probably die. And the dial-up Internet will not increase my chances.

Don't worry, Lisket. Snow's pretty neat stuff, and you'll always have a warm place inside to go to. Just, umm, don't pull a McCandless.

Somehow, I feel like Maine might be a bit of a different experience than the Alaskan wilderness.

I expect I'll have to shovel the driveway and stuff?

I'm also worried I won't be able to find anyone I'd enjoy hanging out with. The place seems to be only inhabited by fishermen.

Where in Maine will you be?

The closest people on this board would probably be myself (MA) and Nanda and Stinkywigfiddle (RI). It'd be a haul to visit, sure, but it depends how much you get tired of fish.

As for how much you'd enjoy hanging out with us, remains to be seen.

Stinky and I were just in Maine. My family goes every year for vacation - I'd love to live there. But then, I also love winter and snow. And lakes and mountains. And moose and loons.

In fact, funny you should mention Maine, because it's a nice segue into my post, where I announce that Stinky and I are getting handfasted in Maine next summer. :D

Congrats!

Eva and I will be in New England the weekend after Labor Day (this year), but Maine isn't in the program, just Boston and New York. There's a good chance my company is going to transfer me to Boston some time in the next year.

I thought you lived in Maine too.

Congrats on the handfasting. How is the whole family arrangement working out? Have things settled any?

Yep, I had to go to Wikipedia to look up "handfasting".

So I go on mission for a couple of days, come back, get a week downtime, go on the mission from hell for a week, come back, get a day of downtime, and lo and behold we're right back on mission. Since there's a range, and my Soldiers need to requalify, I've got to go back on the road AGAIN.

Ordinarily, I wouldn't care. But I've got looming in the VERY near future a LOT of stuff from Battalion and Brigade, not to mention some Company events *I* have worked very hard to make happen. I just want a few days to get my stuff in order before I spend a couple days driving around as a seat filler. Also, now that I've got a ton of emails asking about D&D, I'd like to BE THERE FOR A GAME.

Did I mention that the A/C in the office is still broken? All in all, I don't have big major stressors, I've just got a billion small ones that keep popping up and requiring my attention so I can't ever get shit done.

It's almost September, it's almost September....4.5 months to go.
