I just tend to look at them, read the lame-ass description and go "naaaah!"
Some people do worse first impressions than even I!
Last month I got about 10.4 hits a day from my newsbox.
And I've discovered more than one comic through the newsbox myself.

I think I owe a good amount of monthly visits to my newsbox. It gets me the most hits right behind when people click my page in their bookmarks.

That's my motto.

But actually I suspect newsbox effectiveness varies a bit, since--unless this rule has changed--your ad is only shown on sites rated the same as you or higher (thus a G rated comic would get more exposure than an MA rated comic). And also just good old fashioned advertising skill. (Which I may or may not have, I dunno how my newsbox effectiveness really compares to other people.)

My first comic was in September, 2000.

Yes, that was six and a half years ago. Updating twice a week got me into the low 100's of visits per day in about two years, at which point I stopped paying attention to it in favor of the almost-but-not-quite-totally-dead forum.

I checked again for the first time in AGES and I'm up to 300, but since I wasn't looking at it during the hiatus I went on I can't tell if I was higher before that.

During this time I've done almost no site promotion (at least since around 2002 or so, when I stopped doing all those fan-strips) but I have not missed a scheduled update ONCE, although I have done more than a few copout updates.

My lowest month so far was July (154 hits per day)...and my best month was October (450 hits per day).

All the other months are somewhere around 250 - 300 per day...with little to no advertising on my part.

I'm not sure what happened in October, but whatever it was must have been pretty good.

I should mention that my biggest spike on my CG mirror came from simply adding my comic to OnlineComics.net, and even after it left the main page, my hits didn't go all the way back down. It's an easy way to advertise for a couple of days.

(I got a featured comic link on my Drunk Duck mirror, which helped, too. ;^_^)

I had the featured webcomic on drunkduck mirror as well at strip 18. I really recommend anyone get those as mirrors, but no one listens to me!

*pounds the thread with a ball-peen hammer*
This webcomic, seen here is hosted on the free web host Comic Genesis which pretty much proves its not popular.

Tarts, you're new and all so it's fair to warn you that reviving threads older than few weeks is looked down upon - unless there's a particular reason for it like in case of UK webcomic thing thread.

I honestly don't know how popular my comic is, if at all. Only thing I have noticed is a gradual rise in my daily averages and uniques for each month since I started drawing again.

Although there was the time around the Robert Blake murder and the following trial where I averaged 2000-2500 hits per day. People looking for that ran into my comic instead.

I actually don't really remember when I broke past 200 visits. I remember getting about a 100 visits in the first week because I had a sexy newsbox, and I was pretty well known in the It's Walky! community as a fanartist. A lot of those people came over and checked it out. But getting more visits in general just takes a consistant update schedule and marketing. You have to promote your comic.

Bad Tart. No treat for you.

My webcomic averages around 10,000 hits a month and 500 visits a month...the crazy thing is I have done very little advertising and don't even think that my comic is that good. Go figure, eh?

Yeah...it took me since November of last year to get to where I am now. :D

I only get between 15 unique visitors a day to around 150. I wish it was more popular, but I guess it takes more advertising and sheer willpower to get it out there!
