We'll if only the expression is being discussed and not the quality of the art, I submit my first comic for #1: An expression reinforcing what is happening in the comic.
This comic for #2: An expression adding a subtle layer to the scene, especially the middle panel. Or perhaps this one would be better.
This comic for #3: Expression telling a story all by itself. I am not sure about this one. It shows Zelda reacting to what's happening off-screen. Or perhaps this one. The last panel is supposed to convey a lot of the story, but it is reinforced by dialogue.
And for #4: An expression used as a punchline

I went through and judged which of my better pages would be useful...
For #3, expression telling story all by itself: http://blueskunk.spiderforest.com/?comic_id=171
For #2, expression adding a subtler layer to a scene: http://blueskunk.spiderforest.com/?comic_id=192 <--is the best example of that I can think of, though I'm not sure how well it counts.
<a href=http://blueskunk.spiderforest.com/?comic_id=194>This one</a> might be a better one.
...yeah. Those are the better examples I can think of.

These are just a few of my comics that have stuff involving expressions. Hopefully this helps.

I think these are the 'best of' creepy Habib scenes. I'm pretty sure that the expressions are the funniest part out of those scenes. It's also pretty cool to see how different artists draw that particular expression on the same character.

I think 90% of Blackaby relies on the artists doing cool expressions, as the humour in it is pretty darn dry.

Well, I'm not on CG, so maybe you don't want examples from me, but I'm not going to pass up an opportunity to whore out One-liners, so how about this and this as examples of the first thing you listed?
And how about this for the third and fourth?
