Niftyneat! :D I expected a lot of the anime-type influenced things ('cuz that makes sense, 'cuz there's a bunch of anime-type influenced comics here, and let's face it, a lot of anime-type things are just really well done and inspire us) but all the people who were inspired by Calvin and Hobbes I didn't see comming, though I suppose I should have, after all, it's one of the best comics of all time 8)

I gotta admit though...the singing christmas tree was a bit of a surprise as well *cackle* though not TOO shocking :)

Well...if you're talking about making a webcomic in the first place, then I would have to say Kevin and Kell, Unicorn Jelly, and Acid Reflux all made me get my butt out here. (Open, and vulnerable, and sobbing openly like the n00b that I was.)
If you're talking about getting my ass in gear and moving to Keenspace, then we have Okashina Okashi: Strange Candy to thank for that. They were the first 'Space hosted comic I read. ^^
If you're talking about inspiration for my main comic, PSC, the title " Post Sex Clean-Up" was a night of watching cheezy pornos with my fiancee while wondering why they never show any clean up afterwards. The title was created 2 months or so before the strip. The strip was concieved one boring day during break when I worked back at a three letter video game production company that produces lots of Wrestling and Disney Games. Oh, and did I mention the games suck? But working there was fun! ^^;;; Anyway, I was bored and sketching random characters. Sephia came first, then Auri, and I devised a relationship (friends) then I added Nick (husband) threw in a conflict (sexual dysfunction), added a setting (Fetish shop) and connected it with the title from 2 months prior, and PSC suddenly came together. The first few comics were rocky, but actually, this whole strange world with relatable characters appeared out of nowhere within a few months time. And I'm glad I was inspired to do it, because I really enjoy doing it. Of course, it's ending in 2 chapters, but SHHHHH! Don't tell anyone! 0_0

Well, I have a variety of influences. Artistically, I based my drawings on superhero style comics until a few years ago when I started incorporating Japanese techniques to solve certain aesthetic problems I was having difficulty with. My biggest current influences would be anime (various series) and the Oh My Godess! manga series. My writing style is heavily dialogue orientated, which probably hearkens to my theatre experience and my days of playing in MOOs and MUDs. Specific authors that I greatly admire include Caradoc Evans, Sake, C.S. Friedman, and Terry Pratchit.

As for specific influences for Bookwyrms, it was conceived of as a sort of 'Dirty Pair' (anime) meets 'Fafred and the Grey Mouser' (Fritz Leiber). It is written very much at the same level as 'Slayers' (anime) and contains bits and pieces of several of my favorit anime series. The Academy is based very much on the idea of a magical university that Terry Pratchit builds up in his Diskworld books.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. My only inspiration is my deadline. The comic just rattles out in time with the pounding in my brain.
<A HREF="http://hotelgrim.keenspace.com" TARGET=_blank>Hotel Grim</A>, the comic with reservations.

Hey! Same here! Namely:

-Last episode about lab works was inspired by a real events in my lab. It so nicely fitted in a storyline flow.
-The one about fishing inspired by my friend who constantly calls me to come with him on fishing but I never have time.
-Rat wars II - once I really climbed the post and got struck by a thunder... nah! It only came logicaly with a chain of events in comic.
