Artist/Writer Classified Ads
Artist looking for Writer
I am looking for a writer with a self-contained story (6 to 20 pages, preferably about 12). This can be a chapter of something else or a self-contained story, and I will handle all the art-work and lettering. I will also put it online but if you have your own website already I am happy for it to appear there. I am just finishing a collaboration like this with a previous writer, and to give an idea of time that has taken 16 weeks for 12 pages from initial concept sketches to finished files. An example of one of the finished pages, at a reduced resolution and without lettering, can be seen below.
I am quite open on style and techniques if you have something in mind. But I won't do anything involving anthropomorphic animals as the piece I just completed involved them, and I won't replicate the style and look of the sample just below. This is a way of practicing so I would be looking to do something new. If you want to see examples of other art I've done see http://tengu.comicgenesis.com/ or http://www.elfwood.com/~robertbr.
Before starting I need to see a completed script for the whole story. You can email a complete script to robert (at) kushan.org. I can't consider something without a complete script, though if you send a synopsis I might be able to say I definitely wouldn't be interested. I will read through any scripts sent to me in the next three weeks and will make a decision on the 22 January. Due to lack of time there would be no way I would say yes to more than one script.

I'm not charging and don't expect to do anything commercial with this but in the unlikely event of any profits would expect a 50/50 split.

Re: Artist/Writer Classified Ads
Hello Artists,
I'm looking for an artist to start a Romantic Yaoi Comedy Serial; if you didn't understand what that meant, then, trust me, this add isn't for you. I'm a young (produced, once) theatrical writer -though I do write just about everything else- and I've been looking for some time now to get into the world of webcomics. Understanding that this is a two person job, and that the writer is usually at the disadvantaged end of the bargain, I will be very open to my artist's suggestions with regards to the storyline, as well as very lax with regards to frequency; however, I do expect us to get something done.
The setting I currently have in mind is the Royal Court of a 18th-century type nation. In all the pomp and baroque beauty of the Palace, but to the background of this cultural clash and escalating political situation with foreigners, we have a love story between two protagonists from completely different worlds. The style, well... it's at the top of the page. Should you be interested, please PM me; you may see some -rather unsatisfactory, smutty and generally fanfiction-ish, if I may- samples of my work at the following address:
http://www.fanfiction.net/u/2111270/Mer ... ive_Detail
It's all I've got online, really
Thank you very much

Re: Artist looking for Writer
As the writer in question, I'd just like to say that working with Robert has been a pleasure and I am immensely pleased with the final result, and so I would recommend that anyone looking for an artist for a project like this should take up his offer.RobertBr wrote:I am looking for a writer with a self-contained story (6 to 20 pages, preferably about 12). Re: Artist/Writer Classified Ads
Hello my name is Michael, but everyone calls me Mick, and I am looking for a artistic collaborator to work with me on a web strip called Be My Own Best Friend - the strip is in the vain of the newspaper strips like Calvin and Hobbs, Peanuts, etc. So, what I am looking for is a cartoony style somewhere in that vain. It will be in black and white, and what I will be doing is posting it on my blog until I have a hundred strips, and then I will shop them to publishers to see if they are interested in publishing them. The strips will be approximately 4-6 panels in length, though this is dependent on the requirements of the story and art.
Here is a writing sample:
BE MY OWN BEST FRIEND
Story 1 - 4 panels "Star-tlment"
1. Establishing shot, Little John sits on chair similar in vein to the classic enterprise, he's leaned over onto his right elbow.
LITTLE JOHN:
When will we arrive on Nebula Prime ensign?
2. Pan camera to the chair across from him. There lies a pillow, and in front of it is the control panel.
3. Little John has leaned back in his chair as a hand rests upon his shoulder.
LITTLE JOHN:
Ensign, I didn't qui--YAH!
4. Little John looks up, at his mom, but the camera angle stays level keeping her appearance mysterious, and his fantasy environment fades.
MOM:
Playing Star Crusier again?
LITTLE JOHN:
Yes, mom.
You can reach me at gatecrasher6@gmail.com if you are interested in working with me on the strip. Please put the header BMOBF Art Submission.
What I look for is a dependable, timely artist. We can arrange a release schedule to work around paid commitments, etc.
-Michael

Hey, I wanted to say I posted as shastab24 above, but I'm using this account now, because I want to log in easier. I'm still looking for an artist.
Re: Artist/Writer Classified Ads
Hi! Artist here looking to get into webcomics. Tried to write my own, but its a bit too daunting (and driving me insane) and I'd like to get attached to a project that I like. Rather than retype all this, I'm going to first link you to examples of my work...
here http://s106.photobucket.com/home/Infamous-Q
and here http://ronin-q.deviantart.com/
and then I'm going to copy paste my journal entry on my (latest and only) deviant art account.
To all potential creative writing types who may come along on this page and/or writers I have linked here, I want to work on a webcomic with a writer who gels with my sensibilities. What I mean by that is I know artists are a fickle bunch, and if a story doesn't grab me by the bits and hard, I know better than to start as I probably won't follow through. You can send me notes here or shoot me emails at qaztaku@gmail.com . A little about my tastes as follows. Please note I do like SOME of the things outside whats stated here, usually due to exceptional writing or interesting spins on a concept.
GENRES THAT I LIKE:
Silly or quirky slice of life; Quirky slice of life with some romance elements; Dark comedy adventures or dailies; Absurd concepts presented with a straight face; Serious adventures that know when to have a light-hearted moment; Adventures that don't take themselves seriously much at all; Super hero stories with a dash of camp value; Gritty realism that doesn't focus solely on wangst; Near future/cyber punk settings; Psychological thriller/mind screw series's
WEBCOMICS I LIKE:
Octopus Pie; Penny-Arcade; Gastrophobia!; Horribleville; Gunshow Comic; Much the Miller's Son; String Theory; Shortpacked!; Hannah Is Not A Boy's Name; Warbot; Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal; XKCD; The Adventures of Doctor McNinja; Cyanide and Happiness; PVP
THINGS I THINK ARE PLAYED OUT AND/OR AM NOT THAT INTERESTED IN:
High Fantasy/Sword & Sorcery (more of a realism or SciFi guy myself); 100% Two gamers on a couch; 100% Gorn w/no reason for it to happen; 100% Horror
THINGS I WANT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH:
Fanart/fancomic; 100% MOE BLOBS; Mary Sue wank comics
__________________________________________________
Any pitches you want to throw my way can be sent through here or the email provided. I'm interested in 2 updates per week schedule, and I lean a bit more towards strips over pages (if the writings there though I'll do pages).
*EDIT* Just now starting a collab with a guy on drunkduck, but may check back in once the short project is done. Good luck all.

Re: Artist/Writer Classified Ads
Guidelines for writers searching for artists:
The comic I'm looking to start is an adaptation of a novel I'm currently writing. My goal is to diversify it's demographic if / when it's finished. Like the novel, the comic would be released online at regular intervals.
My current website http://www.mutiny-grafix.com is full of chapter and pages I have already written for the story. The are the pages I would be converting in to scripts, with some light storyboarding.
Any artists interested in helping create what I think will be a great comic can reach me at tdcampbell1980@gmail.com Hell, email me even if you aren't and just have questions or whatev's. I can also be found on twitter - name on there is MutinyTrev
I'm not picky about what kind of artists I want to work with; the only real requirements are a steady output of material, even if we have to spend a few months building up completed work before going live, and having a fairly serious art style, since the comic itself isn't going to be a comedy.
I'm also open to writing / helping an artist develop their own comic. I can write pretty much any kind of story as long as I have a strong understanding of the characters and setting.
Later!

Re: Artist/Writer Classified Ads
I'm looking for an artist to help me by drawing my web comic Marquee Story (http://marquee.comicgenesis.com). I find that while the scripts, storyline, world, and characters come easily to me, I spend way too much time gaping in horror at my awful artistic abilities to meet deadlines I set myself. I would therefore, like to have an artist so I can get comics up and have the added bonus of them looking good.
Marquee story is about a runaway slave that is trying to overthrow the human government in favor of his inferior species (Marquees). This world is filled with reality-altering magic, but not high magic, and is an attempt on a subversion of such stories, as well as having a plot of its own.
The work shown so far in my comic is not my best, as I was adapting it to fit my limited graphics skills. I can send a full script for as many comics as necessary if you wish for it, varying from full comic layout to just the lines and actions as needed.
I am only looking for a person that is good enough at art to make the comic readable, and is able to get one done at least weekly. Any (unimaginable) profits would be split 50-50. Please contact at bjbland2004@yahoo.com.

Re: Artist/Writer Classified Ads
I've got a project that I've been filling up notebooks with and generating script for.... I just don't have the time to draw it myself.
I'm looking for someone to do the art part of my project...
The Project: An imaginative story about a boy in the middle of nowhere who finds a big robot that can almost create anything he can imagine... (There's more to this but I don't want to give it all away here... interested parties will receive more info!)
The Artist (you): Someone familiar with comicking. Someone who can read a script and lay out a page. Must be able to translate their art to the digital medium (inking, lettering etc) Looking for a unique style that reads well (I'm picturing Tank Girl meets Calvin & Hobbes in my head)
The Writer (me): Well versed in webcomic publishing (Been at it since 01 with various projects). I'll keep the ideas cranking and keep the web/promotion side of things going (I can even do lettering but I find it's best if the artist at least blocks it out so the art isn't compromised). I'm easy to work with and in no way a slave driver (I like to keep a schedule but sometimes life gets in the way)
Essentially I'm looking to do a series of graphic novels that will first be published online then bound and sold hardcopy. I'm looking to do this for as low of a cost as possible. I'll take care of the website and promotion costs. When it comes down to doing merch and/or selling the book you will receive a 50/50 cut of the profits. Of course all artwork can be used towards a portfolio of your choice (maybe sans dialogue) We may be able to reach an agreement on payment per page but that all depends on the ever present question: "How much?".
All in all this idea has been swamping me for some time and I'm literally bursting with ideas. This will be a long term project. With a very good chance of becoming something more. I have my sights set high and a vast knowledge to accomplish what I want.
So... who's coming with me?
Interested parties can contact me here or ryanborelladesigns@gmail.com

Re: Artist/Writer Classified Ads
I am a writer looking for artists willing to work on short stories of five to seven pages in length in exchange for an ownership percentage of the intellectual property.
I am currently looking for artists to collaborate on the following stories for Red Leaf Comics Presents, an anthology published by Red Leaf Comics:
Uppyr
Uppyr is a horror story about the last Zaporizhian Cossack, who Lilith, the Queen of the Demons, transforms into an Uppyr (a Russian vampire) to create discord between him and his wife.
Legacy of Terror
Legacy of Terror is a horror/adventure story in which the modern descendant of Abraham Van Helsing must gather the descendants of other legendary monster hunters to protect them from an evil bent on revenge.
The Grandfather Paradox
The Grandfather Paradox is a superhero story in which an unconscientious man finds himself catapulted through time to the final days of World War II, where he saves the life of his grandfather, a Nazi scientist who transforms the Earth into a virtual utopia that conceals a slave country beneath the appearance of peace, which he must now expose.
These stories have publishing spots in the aforementioned anthology, but they need artists to be produced.
As I writing example, I’d like to submit the first page of Uppyr In PDF format. I recommend you save it to your computer, not download it as it is a big file.
If interested, you may contact me at michaelsacal@heroictendencies.com
As you can judge from the sample page, my scripts are rather detailed and, when possible, include references images for locations, characters, and objects. Even so, I do give
artists some artistic leeway when possible. I prefer when the artists does a rough storyboard based on the script for review before s/he commits to a page.
I prefer western and realistic artwork, no manga or cartoony style.
Thanks.

=== Looking for sequential artists (one page) ===
Hello,
I'm currently setting up a Sci-Fi/Fantasy webcomic where each page is drawn by a different artist.
10 pages are already in progress but more artists are welcome to continue the story.
Each page has 5 panels, with very simple backgrounds and character designs.
I'm doing the story, the coloring and the lettering so you only have to do the line-art (but you can also do the color if you want to). All styles are welcome.
If you're interested, please send samples (links are preferred, but attachments are okay too) to jpg25i@gmail.com. This is for a free web project so there is no pay involved, it's purely for the fun of it.
Thanks for looking! All the best,
StepH.

All the best,
StepH.

published novelist seeks artist for graphic novel
Hi, I’ve had three novels published, numerous short stories, sold options on feature-length screenplays, and I'm looking for an artist to collaborate with on a graphic novel project. I'm not expecting anyone to work for free, and I'm looking for someone who's really into collaborating closely right from the start. I’m from the UK but my career is based mostly in the States. I have a literary agent in New York and a screenwriting agent in Los Angeles, which may or may not be useful to us. The main thing, I want to find someone with the same kind of ambition that I have, the same love of graphic novels, who really wants to use the web, traditional publishing and any other form out there to get the work out and read by people. I’m based in the UK, travel a lot, so perhaps it doesn’t matter where you are based? I really love work by Jeff Lemire, Adrian Tomine, Michel Rabagliati, Craig Thompson. I won’t go into the story I want to tell right now (it will be in the vein of an indie graphic novel though) but if you’re interested in getting in contact I can send you some stories and novels I’ve had published, check out your artwork, and if we like what we see/read, we can go from there. Look forward to hearing from you. Kris. krs216@hotmail.com
Re: Artist/Writer Classified Ads
Hello there.
I am making my first forays into writing comics and would like an artist to do some concept drawings for me. Its quite a traditional sort of superhero comic with a twist. I am very open minded on style and the suchlike and as its my first time writing I dont mind if you have any previous experience or not. Email me on charles.horwood@gmail.com if you are interested.

we don't need no stinking subject
So, I haven't properly picked up a pencil in a while, and really need to get back into drawing.
I figure the easiest way to get some practice again is to collaborate on a short- or long-term project with a creative brain/writer which would allow me to focus purely on the visual side of things.
The Project could be
...a new comic or graphic novel no more than a maximum of 50 pages/strips initially (is negotiable and this could be extended, but first I'd like to see how we get on)
...a number of guest strips for an existing comic, written by you
...an illustrated childrens book
...something else? You tell me!
I am
...very out of practice but I've produced some alright art in the past
...willing to put in a lot of effort and as much time as possible into the right project (I do work full time and have a boyfriend to entertain so there are limits)
...quite versatile and can draw in different styles/techniques, whatever matches the type of story the best
...open to pretty much any genre or idea as long as I like the story/writing
...not opposed to mature content, as long as it is within the realm of legality and good taste
...able to design an OK looking website if needed
...not in this for money but for practice; however, should any profit ever be made from this, we will split everything 50/50.
You
...are a talented and grown-up writer and have proven you can finish stories - if anyone is going to slow this project down it should be me, not you!!
haha.. I kid......
...have one or several great and possibly crazy ideas and are able to put one of these into a format of 50 pages/strips or (even better) less!
...are fun to work with but are also able to push and challenge me and offer constructive criticism, so ideally you have an eye for art yourself to some extent, basically you should be able to tell me when something looks shit.
I guess the important thing is that I need to like your idea, and you need to like my art. To discuss please PM or email to gimmecookies(at)gmail(dot)com.
To view some of my very old stuff, go to www(dot)creativia(dot)org (Please note most of it is 3-4 years old or older and the website ain't great).

Re: Artist/Writer Classified Ads
Ok, here’s my thing:
My name is Sandra Lanz and I am an aspiring artist!
Background. I have published work as the artist for Saint James Co.'s flagship comic book title "Ex Occultus," for which I did sequential art as well as concept art, storyboarding, layout, design, inks, colors, and cover art. I’ve also recently graduated with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts concentrating in Drawing & Painting.
IMPORTANT: I am now looking for a project that will challenge and push me to hone my skills as a “jack of all trades” illustrator. Ideally, I hope to find an employer who will appreciate my dedication, work ethic, and stylistic flexibility. I welcome criticism and feel I have a lot to gain from editorial supervision/direction.
(please hire me)
More Background. I have been interested in illustrative narratives since I was very young, and have focused on exploring the potential of sequential art in my independent artistic research. My portfolio shows my prolific curiosity and passion for this stuff. As a manger at a local comic book store for the past 3 years I have developed a strong admiration for the graphic novel format, and I am of the belief that if treated properly comic books can and should be regarded as fine art.
Below I have posted a variety of work, but I also encourage anyone who might be interested in seeing more of my portfolio to visit my website http://www.SandraLanz.com. There you will find my updated resume, contact info, and blog.
Unequivocally,
Sandra Lanz
