I'd watch that show, especially if they do it in their underpants.Mercury Hat wrote:One girl's flat, one girl's fat. They fight crime!

This was originally going to be a joke response, but then I thought about it for a second. If you're referring to fact she doesn't have toes drawn in, fine. If you're referring to her position I invite you to rethink that because her position is based on a position I got into myself while drawing it (A fine habit to get into for dynamic drawings - almost every drawing I do I've done the pose IRL, especially since I use a digital camera to record some of them. It helps give a feeling about where the weight in the character in motion should be.) and the only way for it to be anatomically impossible would be for Drybone McGee Osteoperosis Sufferer Extraordinaire or Fatass McThunderthighs to try it.Robin Pierce wrote:Anatomy, particularly feet, do not work like that.
Now here comes the part we all know and love where I act like a petty douchebag (PS Unb& Van Douchebag)
Action scenes, particularly showing a character attacking another character, do no work like this.

Looks like your valuable anatomy got in the way of drawing an action sequence that makes sense to the viewer.
Ha ha ha, see what I did there?
But seriously, fuck anatomy. Style is much more important for cartoonists. The best cartoons all have anatomically incorrect characters.

Ha ha ha, nahhhhhhhh, I'm just playing with you too.
But no, I needed cheesecake for the idea I've been farting around with since January. A smart sexy Man in Black agent to foil her stupid George Bush-esque male counterpart. Besides, it was becoming a sausagefest. The only female character was a ditzy robot.

Sorry, no comedy routine featuring my hairy chicken legs. Here are my girlfriend's, a notch above mine

I saw the picture THEN read the post so for a good 15 seconds I thought you had some fine womanly features Van

The legs in the photo seem more angled. When I look at the picture you drew the legs look like they are put on side ways.

Yeah, for better accuracy you'd better try again, except this time post a picture of her without any pants on.SergeXIII wrote:The legs in the photo seem more angled. When I look at the picture you drew the legs look like they are put on side ways.

Um not taking sides or anything here, but I was just reading this and thinking something did strike me as "off" when looking at that FBI girl pic as well.Guildmaster Van wrote:"The feet are all wrong!"

I couldn't quite put my finger on what was so "off" until I saw Van's further explanations. Looking at the picture and Van's photo, I think the main problem is that in the photo, the extended leg (the GF's left) is actually slightly in front of the leg most of the weight is on. In Van's drawing, they are exactly in the same line, and there's the problem.
(See edited image)
It's a very very slight difference, but apparently it makes a lot of difference. If you put it slightly back, it looks as though one leg is longer than the other, which is probably what set off most people's "something is wrong" warning bells.
In a loose sketchy kind of art style, most people probably wouldn't notice it at all, but because Van's stuff is so crisp, it tends to pop out more.
Like I said, I'm not doing this to show anyone up or to take sides, just sharing what I learnt from this thread today.

Re: Doodles 11: Actual doodles also accepted.
the problem i see with the feet is that they are too much in profile. they should be rotated towards the front 20 to 30 degrees. the foot calves and the knee are usually on the same plane, unless you're one of those crazy dancers who do weird things with their feet. the tibia and fibula move along with the foot as it rotates.
but more importantly I noticed your girlfriend has on two different socks, one with a hole in it. maybe you should think about getting her some for Christmas.
plus the upper part of the right arm is a few millimeters longer than the left. if you guys are gonna nit pick than really nit pick but other than that its a pretty cool drawing.

The drawing was done without a photo reference, however. The photo was taken after the picture was done in response to the comments about the feet not being able to arch like that and I wasn't really paying attention in reference to what angle I was looking at her at.Phalanx wrote: I couldn't quite put my finger on what was so "off" until I saw Van's further explanations. Your explanation and edit make sense (Although it kinda points out I'd also have to redraw the stance for the equilibrium point). I'm not used to drawing on Wacom quite yet, and I probably screwed myself up trying to keep my equilibrium point like seen in your edit.Phalanx wrote:It's a very very slight difference, but apparently it makes a lot of difference. Socks don't make a very good birthday present for a girlfriend. Girls want impractical romantic junk for bdays, like smell bath stuff or mushy cards. Unless they are romantic socks, like ones with some cute picture of the two of you on them or you tell her your grandma knit them.
I was inspired by the nipple bad anatomy discussion to draw something that was really bad about both.

Oh socks are fine as a gift. Especially when you hide some extras like a pair of earrings in themSpaceprincess wrote:Socks don't make a very good birthday present for a girlfriend.
