That's what I'm thinking... I was thinking of changing a few things anyway, so I'll probably make some of those changes while I'm in there replacing KeenSpace with the new name.PeppermintAfterlife wrote:I guess I don't mind changing all occurence of keenspace on my site. I've been meaning to revamp my site anayway and have tons of stuff to add to too.
So, KeenSPACE is getting a name change on Monday.

For anyone lamenting changing all their links across multiple files, check out Notetab. It can load a hundred HTML files into memory and do a global search and replace across them all easily. You should back up first, though. If you get the search slightly wrong...

Oh yeah. I could do that.Crossfire wrote:The html changing wont be too hard for me. Wordpad apparently has a "replace *** with ****" feature. I can just tell it to replce every occurence of keenspace with the new name. However, it will be tedious as hell to do this to 30 pages... Oh well, I eat tedium for breakfast! No wait that's waffles. I'm screwed!
And the sticker thing should work.
I'll also have to change my business cards.

There are pretty decent, readily downloadable programs to fix that. Global Find and Replace programs are bomb. I think uh... if you open all of the files at once in CuteFTP1.0 (which you can do), it will do a global find and replace for you.Crossfire wrote:The html changing wont be too hard for me. Backups are for wimps! I dare you to do it without backups! I DOUBLE DOG DARE you!Terotrous wrote:I may just run a script to blindly change every occurance of it and hope it doesn't explode. I guess I could back it up first.
This webcomic, seen here is hosted on the free web host Comic Genesis which pretty much proves its not popular.

No, "just your index page" would be a "just your index page" update. A regular update changes things you've changed in workspace, and a "full update" rewrites everything, usually only needed if you've been mucking about in "public_html".Komiyan wrote:Actually it does, since it's ALL your pages, not just your index page, surely?Risky wrote:Not that it takes a "full update" to change one line of text on all of your pages.

Don't forget this:

For a period of perhaps six months to one year, both *.keenspace.com and the new URLs would function. That will give you a great deal of time to notify people to change outside links. We would likely also offer a way to automatically convert all the links currently on your webpages. You'd then be free to download the converted webpages to your home computer. Then, after the

There's still the "This comic is hosted by Keenspace" messages to change, as well as newsbox titles in some cases and undoubtably a bunch of minor mentions here and there. Really, it's probably just best if people do it themselves. I mean, once you start a global search and replace, it'll get everything anyway.
