The book it's based on (Mr. Frisby and the Rats of NIHM) is worth reading as well, even for adults.

And you could always make Nicodemus the kid's middle name. At least its easier to hide.

As for our new name.. gennites?

Maria read the book, too, when she was little.

Also... middle name... hmm...

I would so name my child Nicodemus (if I ever planned on having one). He could just go by 'Nick' and no one would be the wiser.

Of course, I used to think that Cornelius was a sexy name. Yes, I know.

i love reading childrens lit, and i've read 2 or 3 other robert c. o'brien books, but i've been working on Mrs Frisby and the Rats of Nymn for about a year... i just can't get into it... maybe its because i have a hard time reading about talking animals... i had similar problems with redwall... i think perhaps its because watership down scared the crap out of me when i was a kid! someone bought the movie for me thinking 'cute bunnies', but then dogs started eating them, and i started to cry...
ow! my soul!

Nicodemus is also the name of one of the pharisees that actually believed Jesus.
Someday, someday I'll finish Confabulation. That day is not today, however.

Fourth: I think I'll continue calling myself indie.
Fifth: Ha ha, you're named after a dog.
Sixth: How about Keenspacers?
Everyone: Nah, that name sucks!

Have you ever heard of someone making up his own nickname intentionally? Nicknames just sorta stick at you.

I knew a girl who nicknamed herself Skittles.
Her real name was Irazema or something like that and she hated it.

Irazema is infinitely cooler than Skittles.

Don't you see McDuffies point now?
