Concealed weapon... permit?

What country is sick enough to allow anybody carrying concealed weapons?

The good old USofA of course.

My dad needed to get one because he was being contracted to detoxify methlabs. There are always paranoid schizo breaking into the places to steal things or hide things or to corner other addicts so they can burn them alive in the house(Somone was actually trying this once when my dad showed up).

Thank God I live by California; only governement officials are allowed to carry concealed weapons there.
Faith is what credulity becomes when it finally achieves escape velocity from the constraints of terrestrial discourse- reasonableness, internal coherence, civility, and candor. Thus, the men who commited the atrocities of September 11 were neither cowards nor lunatics of any sort, but Men of Faith- perfect faith- and this, it must finally be acknowleged, is a terrible thing to be.

I'm in the army reserves and I have a silver marksmanship badge. Earned it with assault rifle. *shrug*
This webcomic, seen here is hosted on the free web host Comic Genesis which pretty much proves its not popular.

Everyone had weapons in Bosnia. I don't think there's a house without at least one gun hidden under the mattres.
However, even though surrounded by guns, I never took enough interest in them to try and handle them and, well, phe principle: I'm not neccesarily against weapons, but if I even try to shoot one, I'll make sure I have a proper lisence.

Personally I prefer swords, knives, and other sharp objects. I always wanted one of those swords concealed in an umbrella.

Yeah, so as you try to take it out the mugger shoots you in the belly.

Only people I've seen toting firearms were either trained professionals (Policemen* or Military**), hunters or (like myself) members of an organisation that goes to the range whenever the economy and time allows.

What you can't see on my pic is that the magazine is empty and that I have a blank firing attachement (and rubber tooth guard) on the muzzle of the rifle.
The weekend the pic was snapped I expended about half a dozen magazines of blanks.

Only fired live rounds on range. A few different types of weapons.
Pistol 9mm, Rifle .22 Long, an old Rifle 6.5mm (only five rounds though, then it was phased out for good), Assault Rifle 7.62mm, Assault Rifle 5.56mm.
And I've got to do everything but actually firing an old 9mm SMG.
Never full auto though. Only "dull" drills. On the range, in position, load, safety off, fire, safety on, wait, unload, exit position, check the targets, repeat.
Safety is priority over everything else, but hey, beats having to get blood all over ye and filling out incident reports.

I draw a decent gun too***, secret for me lies in imagining the inside of the gun, seeing the mechanism and how much space that should take.

* = Back in 1999, three bank robbers executed a pair of policemen while they were escaping. During the days after this event, a big search for the criminals ensued. I was tagging along my brother and my mom to see my mom's boyfriend (later and current husband), who lived a bit further south in Sweden. Our trip took us through the area the crooks had escaped through, and we got stopped a couple of times by police checkpoints. It's slightly unnerving to see policemen with assault rifles, carbines and sub machineguns.

** = Speaking of military guns. TANKS! Late summer last year I went down to the Axvall armor museum here in Sweden, worlds fifth largest IIRC, 90 or so AFV's. Ranging from an old German WW1 tank, a couple of Shermans, Panzers and a T-34 to a "modern" T-72, some Swedish Centurions and some prototypes that were never put in production. I'm a thread head, as well as a gun nut and military moron.

*** = I'm just not good drawing everything else.
If you read this, you must think I'm a moron.

A gung ho friend of mine played paintball wearing only a long armed shirt on his upper body. He got a bit bruised, to say the least.
I went in wearing a coverall over my regular clothes, a bit of an extra sweat, but I dislike being on the recieving end of pain.
Didn't stop a friend from nailing me where it hurts with one paintball. How he managed to hit my arse when I was sitting facing towards him, I do not want to know.

i want a hawt cat boi for my lovar
and he must be in2 yaoi and like othar catboiz
and he must buy me flowers everytime we get into a fight and I bitch him out
And he must cater to MY EVERY WHIM and desire, that's right, I want him WHIPPED!

^^^
Don't take any of that seriously. Both of my roommates have boyfriends that have been with them for over a year, which is pretty cool... but they're always fighting and manipulating each other (whether if they mean to or not), and all that drama makes romance a weary idea for me.

Glad to be of assistance, my dear.

Besides, it's not like I got anything to add to this thread.

I've fired a fair share of guns in my time and my father is a member of the NRA. He also has a conceal and carry permit. And an autographed picture of charlton heston on his desk. I'm not joking.

Guns aren't supposed to be around as an anti anarchy measure in the States, quite the opposite actually. The reasoning I've most often heard is that it is a last defence against tyrany impossed by a government. An armed population is a hard population to control and also a hard population to invaid. Sort of a really last ditch check and balance and also defense. It's not entirely without historical precidence either, most totalitarian governments take the population's weapons away as soon as they can.

I personally think the reasoning is moderatly sound dispite the fact that as things are now it might be a tad bit on the paranoid side. I think the self defense reasoning is also sound. A criminal isn't going to want to mug a person is there is a high likelyhood that that person is armed. Yes, then the criminal can have a gun too, but I'd say that most of them would want to avoid a life or death shootout where possable.

Bah, paintballs hardly phase me anymore. It's a rare game that I don't leave the field bruised and bloodied in some way. And I loved it! I'm strange like that... I also once asked a friend to punch me in the arm as hard as he could so my fingers would loosen up. (Nerves release chemicals that make the pain go away. And they they travel downstream in your blood so my fingers felt kinda good after that.) Though I have not been shot in the crotch and have no desire to.

And I wear thick shoes. I can shoot myself in the foot all day. It's nice to be dressed for the occasion. Complete with gloves that have plastic over them so I don't take a paintball to the hand and leave the field bleeding. :)
