CRFH is going towards that too, but I wouldn't like to see it ending before all storylines are resolved (damnit... it's same old mathclass jokes again... how many more times is she gonna repeat them?)

I agree about CRFH. I just hope that, if it does end sometime in the near future, that the ending isn't rushed; isn't that hypocritical?
- Comics I Wiould Be Sad to See Go:
Megatokyo
Penny Arcade
Real Life
ADVENTURERS! (Though it's about to die of natural causes)
Mac Hall
LinT
Because of Math Class
Pirate Queen Marianne
VG Cats
And, um, my own... infrequently updated though it may be.
All Good Things must come to an end, you know. Specially if they stopped being good a LONG time ago.
Yes, Megatokyo, I'm looking at you.

Faith is what credulity becomes when it finally achieves escape velocity from the constraints of terrestrial discourse- reasonableness, internal coherence, civility, and candor. Thus, the men who commited the atrocities of September 11 were neither cowards nor lunatics of any sort, but Men of Faith- perfect faith- and this, it must finally be acknowleged, is a terrible thing to be.

The thing is, you can't please everybody. Some people ask for more college stories, others like drama, others want more randomness.
I do agree that CRFH moves too slow sometimes, but there's always something happening.
Probably, the problem is that there are too many things happening.
But I'm curious as to this thread. When you mean end, do you mean for good? Or do you mean roomies-it'swalky style, where characters get recycled? Or do you mean simply updates stopping?

Hm, in both cases of recycling characters that I know (Bobbing/SGR and Roomies/It's Walky) the result was totally different comic. I am usually never particulary sorry that a comic ended, if I know that the artist is gonna continue doing webcomics.
Except in case of 1/0, where I doubted that Tailsteak would do something equally good and so far I was right. (there I go dissing my fave artists again)
But that's just me. Other people get tied to characters so they handle the end of a comic worse.

Hmm...I've got 120 strips finished so far (though only 90 odd are online yet), and if I looked at it chronologically it's only the second week of school or something. In the case it's probably running too slow, but I reckon I've put enough into it to keep the interest up.
I wonder when you know you're nearing the end?
Is it when people say they'll be sad to see you go, or when they complain that you're re-using jokes...good thing my fans read and generally keep their mouths shut, eh?

I don't know when my comic will end, I've got tons and tons of ideas still, but I do know exactly how it will end when it comes. Unless of course sometime between now and then I get hit by a truck or something like that.

Make Comic Genesis Keenspace Again!
Yeah, it's totally up to the author to decide to end a comic's run. However, being on the inside, he might lose sight of the comic's quality after a long time. Thus, he should keep an eye for reader feedback, and use it from time to them to see if they have a valid point. Bad feedback could be people just yelling to be heard or mean, or it could be concerned readers really missing something the comic lost somewhere. Likewise, good feedback could be nothing more than shameless boot-licking, but a long-standing comic artist should be able to separate the wheat from the chaff in both cases.
Mmmm, maybe someone should start a college course on "fan mail appreciation and deconstruction".

Well, it's a blog but he posts several comics in continuation on it. Some of them are interesting, but none too much. Maybe if he centered around one...Maritza wrote: I thought Tailsteak didn't make another comic. I thought all he had was a blog.

I'm not very decisive on "mcDuffies" timeline, but here and there I put hints to that the time is according to real timeline (or maybe a bit slower), which means that it's been three years since events explained in the beginning. I mean, I don't insist that something interesting is always happening to them, so if time seems to go too fast in the comic, that's just because I don't show everything - I skip boring parts.
As for LWK, story so far spans over one day and evening before that. It is going much slower, the story is centered around tournament that lasts for a week or two in whole. But aften the tournament ends, I think things will go much faster.
...
Incidentally, I was thinking about wrapping up mcDuffies slowly. I feel that I'm starting to repeat myself, so tell all the same jokes, I don't like that very much. But I'd need at least a year more to wrap everything up.

I'd probably be upset if most any comic on my list were to end, and I'd be just heartbroken if the artists stopped making comics entirely ( I actually wouldn't mind a few like sluggy starting an entirely new comic). Some others (like CRFH actually) I would like to see concluded soon and then see the artist start on something new, but there's no way I'd be happy without a wrap-up.
my favorites are way too long to list here unfortunately. But the short list of ones that stand out would be:
PA
Ctrl Alt Del
Zebra Girl
The Rules
The mansion of E
Strange Daze
Star Bored
Schlock Mercenary
Kagerou
8-bit theatre
VG cats
Digital War
Darken
Captain SNES
Of course, I don't intend to end my comic too soon, and at the rate it takes me to finish up a story arc it'll be many a year before I run out of ideas and have to start to reuse stuff. at least thats what I hope.
