Most of Jack Chick's teachings, including this one(the immediate antecedent for "this" being the article), are rife with closed-mindedness and broad generalities. I can understand the points both you and he are trying to make, it's just that they reek of silliness.

D&D is no different than writing a story, th eonly difference is that it's a group effort and the world background is pre-made. It's little different from playing video-games, like Legend of Zelda or Final Fantasy. At least as far as this conversation and Mr Chick's points are concerned.

There are no "anti-christian elements" in D&D. There is no bit that says "kill all the christians" or "end christianity." While the elements in D&D are not Christian, they are a far cry from anti-Christian. RPGs have gotten a real bad rap because of Mr. Chick and people who make statements not too different than yours. The simple fact is this: it just isn't true

I agree with every one more or less. But this:

D&D has plenty of references to "spells" (magic is forbidden in the Good Book), involves lots more pretend killing than I'm sure you've stopped to smell the roses for, and has plenty of stuff in it that isn't really healthy for the morals if you ask me. I'm not going to pick on fringe groups like Vampire: the Masquerade LARPers and stuff here.

Is mabey one I really don't agree with. If that is a key issue than we also have to take to mind: ANY Disney movie; LOTR; Harry Potter; The Internet; KeenSpace in total; Nickalodean; Cartoon Network; MTV; Television period; jack in the bean stalk; any and all folk tales; and the whole world while we're at it.

The fact is, yes, it says that Witchcraft, Murder (innocent killing), etc. are really bad. but playing a game is not weilding any forms of evil unless you 'believe in it' so-to-speak. I've delt with this alot in the past two years and I've realized alot.

Also, Jesus Crist ALSO Said that stealing, lieing, cheeting, disrespect, etc. is just as wrong. But Jesus didn't totally shun those people, infact his friends were all kinds of these, thiefs, liers, tax collecters. I'm not saying anything about you BRP but there are people *cough*my aunt*cough* who hate people like me for like RPG's. Don't mean to rant to you, you were just the person who I picked . But I still see where your coming from and agree most all the way.

But that Chick guy is a little closed minded too.

Bingo. But if you're doing it in your mind, what's the difference? The human mind is a weak thing.... tell me now, has anyone in your party killed someone that isn't a monster? What did you think of it? Are you aware of what's going into your mind?

Now, if we didn't expose ourselves to evil, we would never be able to fight it, and it would most certainly be one boring, sheltered, thought-police controlled society we'd live in. But is it better to focus on good or on evil?
