I think more subcategories in the guide would be awesome, I can't think of anything that would go wrong with adding more to it.

Well done, 20%... for one comic? That's... phewwf, impressive. Congratulations. Like (umm, someone) said, it's good to see a keen keenspacer doing so well.
Ahhh being on page one, something I'll never ever have to worry about with Things Change. So long as I'm on some page somewhere I'll be happy.
Speaking of which if I want to be on a page I'd better get today's update done.

Sounds cool!Kisai wrote:So here's a bit of a "kinda sorta" poll for people, should I diverge the "top" pages into subcategories?
In a ' it probably won't wind up happening' kind of way though...

I beg to differ there.
I don't think Sortelli is totally screwed. If he had a few Keenspotters to vouch for him, CC would probably have to call a vote and since there's nothing in EOI that is more offensive than some of the GPF strips, I don't think there would be a problem. The trick will be getting the vote called.Chris Crosby wrote:Maybe I'm wrong, but I get the sense that most people read the strip expecting GARFIELD or something. And that's kinda like reading LORD OF THE RINGS and expecting a Judy Blume book. You'd be screaming "Where the hell is FUDGE?" the entire time and you'd think one of the greatest fantasy novels in history was not nearly as good as FRECKLE JUICE.

I believe the last time I got plugged by Sortelli I nearly fell off my chair because my visits/per day shot up to 1000...from what... 250?Ratbert wrote:Way to go, Sorty. It's amazing that PA has the power to convert a normal comic (not that EOI wasn't popular before, but still) into a huge hit...imagine if someone else got linked from them or even you!
Pretty damn impressive... I say

Seriously Sortelli, why don't you try to talk with Chris Crosby? I bet Skirting Danger had a reader base as large as yours when it got 'spotted.

But really, a comic with two 30something old people who decide to wait with sex until they're married, that's offensive to me. That's forcing unique and pretty backward moral statured to other people. But noone is asking me...faub wrote:I don't think Sortelli is totally screwed. Probably not even as much... But it's did have the Graphic Smash credentials that might have appealed to CC.RPin wrote:I bet Skirting Danger had a reader base as large as yours when it got 'spotted.
They didn't FORCE it you, know. It was their own choice.mcduffies wrote:But really, a comic with two 30something old people who decide to wait with sex until they're married, that's offensive to me. That's forcing unique and pretty backward moral statured to other people. But noone is asking me...
Jeff had no qualms about Fooker and Sharon doing the same thing.

Hm, I didn't come to the place wit Shannon and Fooker, I guess I quit before that.Phalanx wrote:They didn't FORCE it you, know. But look at it this way: You have two adult, normal people who instantly agree on no sex policy - not kids, or with doubts, like in "It's Walky", but as if that's something that's common. Geffrey is presenting us a vision of the world where no premarital sex is a common thing (which, like it or not, isn't). Maybe unwillingly, but his comic still sends a general message, having his characters presenting normal people.
It's like with "Sex and the city": a series features four women, of various educatio, intelectual, ambition etc levels, acting like total sluts. Thus, they're giving us a picture of every woman in world acting like that. Which is, again, far from reality.

Well, the reason I've never tried to actively get myself spotted is that I consider Elf Only Inn to be just a big fat rough draft in the long run. As popular as it has become, I always look back on it and think that it's not ready for prime time because I can do better. I do plan on turning it into something I can support myself with someday, but I want to have honed it to perfection by then. So it doesn't bother me at all that I haven't been sent up to Keenspot. I still don't think I'm ready.

I'm sure there are places where you could improve. Everyone has those. If you plan to support yourself with EOI or some version of it in the future you could always look at being spotted as a sort of test run for future entrepreneurship. It will give you some experience in print and help you market your comic in whatever form it should take. Keenspace is great and all, but it doesn't provide any services other than web hosting. You need to look into marketing and merchandising if you want to make any money (so says the computer guy). I don't think you should turn down any help that might be available to you just because you don't think you're ready. You may find that your comic has been ready for months and you're the only one holding you back.
