Drunk Duck is lame...

Post by ZOMBIE USER 12476 »

I got tired of waiting and wanted to upload something... boredom tends to cause that. Someone here pointed out that Drunk Duck can be used to host comics... however, it wasn't until I registered and uploaded a comic that I realized that it sucked, and sucked hard. You don't get a webpage, just a little template that your comic is uploaded into. You also get a 255 character limit on your little discussion that goes with the strip.

One more gripe about Drunk Duck... you can upload only ONE IMAGE A DAY, meaning you have to go back every day you want to upload. I wanted to load in all my backlog strips, but instead, people are stuck with the first one... which follows the tradition of first comics in that it sucks.

Blah. I hope I can register at keenspace soon. Anyway, click the link in my sig to go to the feeble site and check my feeble attempt at a comic...

(^^^see why the 255 character limit sucks to me? I love to write too much for a simple thing. 959 characters to sort of get what I wanted to say across... not including this blurb.)

well...at least it's easy to use (there was my daily look on the bright side.)
however your first strip looks pretty entertaning.

*me lets out a resounding hoot*

First strip is entertaining, I find that great as first feedback. Heh... :-?

Your discreet plug looks pretty cool... I bet if you artistly smudge up the scratchlines on the bottom half, it would smoothen it out and make it look kinda cool... even though it hasn't updated in ages, http://www.novachronicles.com uses pencil, and it looks smooth.

I find it kind of weird that the spelling is fine until the last bubble, where things seem to fall to pieces :P :)

And hey, I like pencil art. :P

EDIT: Hey, whaddya know, they updated! I guess I forgot to check in the last few days... they went about 4 weeks without updating anything significant...

Interesting comics you two got up there. I see a system of Drunk Duck does suck; you don't even get a html page.
On the other hand, maybe some people do prefere not having to bother with page design and all... but if you can't upload in advance, that is a problem.
Anyway...

You seem to frequently mistake being snide for feedback.

Heh. Heee... Um... HA. er...

DrunkDunk isn't that bad really. I'll prolly put up my side project there unless someone wants to offer me free webspace. It's not like it's geoangelcityfire or anything. Meanwhile, it offers up a semblance of a community just like keen does. Only it's at the beginning of it. So things are a bit slow. AND there's a higher ratio of notcrap-crap than keen has as far as content. So far anyway.

Drunk Duck seems like a great service to me. To my knowledge, most people who upload there comics there are hosted on Keenspace or another server, but Drunk Duck is the ideal place to catch some feedback because posting critique there is fast and simple. It's like a more constructive version of good ol' Cartoonists Hot or Not! (Which is good fun too, btw).

it does have it's goodpoints (i wouldn't have put my comic there if it didn't) but it dosen't really give you a lot of options. and the text limit.
easy critique is great though.

I agree the text limit is it's greatest flaw, next to the butt-ugly page design. But then again; most people don't write critiques long enough to ever come in conflict with the word limit.

So most people's gripes with Drunk Duck is just that you can't upload multiple images and you can't have your own HTML site with character pages and extras. Both are the reason I still want to be at keenspace.

The feedback and voting system are pretty cool... my comic got up to #6 on the site after only the first strip. Hooray. :|.

Yeah, I've got a DrunkDuck site. To make up for the "only one image per day" dilemma, I crammed five strips into one image to speed things up, so I suggest that anyone else with that problem should try it too. I like that I don't have to mess with it, but whoever the designer is did a piss-poor job of choosing the colors (blue and yellow are not my cup of tea). And if the number of my reviews is any indication, then nobody's read my comic (so I'm commanding all of you to do so). It's a nice site, but it is most definitely temporary.
Two hotdogs are cooking on a barbecue one day, and the first hotdog turns to the other and says, "Boy, it sure is hot in here," and the other hotdog responds, "Whoah! A talking hotdog!"

My comic is temporarily available at drunkduck.com/Elijah_and_Azuu

I agree drunk duck sucks, but right now it's all I've got to work with. To take care of my want for a website, I went to http://www.1afm.com and set up a site there. It was pretty easy, and I have a set-up that I'm okay with until keenspace comes back.
