Here's the problem. I got promoted at work, and the promotion is going to entail me doing MORE work on things other than Schlock. Coloring the comics currently takes me between two and four hours per week, and while I know that doesn't sound like a lot, it's all the time I can spare. That means that should a book deal, or a merchandising opportunity come up, I just plain don't have the time to dig in and do the neat coloring that is required.
So... I'm looking for a colorist. Here are the basic requirements:
1) You have to be at LEAST as good at it as I am. I don't have time to train anyone on the basics. Training them to get inside my head and color the way I do (or better yet, like I would if I were really good at it) is going to be difficult enough.
2) You have to be artistically flexible. See #1. Mostly this means that there will be areas in which you can really let yourself go, and other areas where your boss (me) will tell you exactly what it must look like.
3) All work must be done in Photoshop, and you must output each strip in several formats including half-tone (for b/w publications), layered separations, LZW-compressed TIFF, and web-friendly (read that "go easy on the gradients) GIF.
4) This is a long-term arrangement, and there is pay involved from day one. I know a lot of you may want to volunteer. I DON'T WANT VOLUNTEERS. I want serious, business-minded applicants who think that long-term involvement in the Schlock Mercenary franchise would be exciting, rewarding, and a potential career opportunity.
If you are interested, then email me and apply. Naturally, you'll be wanting more information, which I can provide.
