Go get 'em, Tiger! *fruity limp hand thing*
And now, for a thoughtful, sensitive discussion.

Um, Gamecube/emulator... doesn't work. Runs mini-DVDs, not roms.JasterW wrote:a hand-drawn sprite comic? that sounds funny. I've always thought a good comic concept would be one based on the characters in Super Smash Bros Melee. Only it could be hand drawn.... Or copied and pasted from an emulator, I guess.
Edit: It is a good idea, tho...

Hey, and why not? Escape gender labels! *froaths at the mouth*
Nah, but really. It's just a test, anyhow. As to the comic, whatever sends you. Personally, I like a good plot I can sink my fangs into. But your the best judge of your own skills...usually. And hey, no matter what you do, always remember that it could be Garfield. *Shivver*

About the first question... I think it doesn't really matter if it's realistic or not - it has to be something new. You can have college kids playing games, but you can have their brains explode as well, it won't be new. Then again, if you tell a realistic story about a rise and the fall of a rock-group from 40ies... well, I don't think anyone has seen that in a comic.
Meaning, 'wackey', 'realistic'... those are too wide genres that they could say much. 'wacky' can be boring as well.
I mean, think twice before you accept an idea. My characters are wacky college kids, and I never forgave that to myself.

Here's a hand-drawn sprite comic: Retro
While you're at that site, back up and watch the Knights of the Dinner Table cartoons.
I think a gag strip would be wonderful and nifty, but who says that some semblance of a story needs to be sacrificed for the gags? Even the mighty Cup o' has had the recent strips following a plot and it's still as funny as ever. Dumping the story altogether is bad, because even if there is no logical sense to the jokes, a storyline makes the individual characters more appealing because they keep coming back and developing in even tiny ways even if they are getting their heads blown off every other strip or something.
Total no story gag strips would be one-framers like... ugh... Ziggy. Or on that hand, The Far Side, but I don't think we'll ever have another Gary Larson.

I follow the same thought, actually . . . like my strip does gags, but they're mostly involved with the plot in some manner. Well, sorta. but yeah, you can have your gag and plot it, too - or something like that.

Yeah, Sortelli, I've read TKOTDT before. But no offense, but that other strip is CRAP!
...mine'll be A LOT funnier. And no one-panel stuff, like the Far Side (which was ingenious). And, extra bonus: no eye-straining sprites!
