Ideas for promoting a webcomic page?

Post by Weird Kid »

I've been running my own webpage for a few months now, and stats are fairly good but I'd like to increase promotion of the site. How do youall promote your sites to attract visitors and fans?

Hmm... Seems like we've been talking a lot about this topic lately.

First of all, I'd say go through the past posts because everyone contributed their ideas in one recent thread (and I don't think they're up to doing that again just yet).

Secondly, you probably realize that it's not always about getting more visits. I find that creating a fan base is far more important. The visits to my site seem to grow by the amount of content I have. This ties in with the fact that you should have a solid archive. But if you don't do it for the love of it, what do you do it for?

Posting your URL on this board is a good place to start promoting your site, but of course there are those of those (like me) who prefer to be more discrete. Ultimately, you're going to decide how and if you're going to promote your site. It's a decision you have to make, whether you'd like to be "mainstream" or "underground." Either way, good luck to ya.

It's allways a good thing to dial numbers randomly and inform people who answers about your site. I also used a few spells I found in a craft book in my local library.

I like those ideas! I think I'll also use the grafitti method as well.

I'm getting good traffic to my site, but my site isn't well-known. For example, the messageboard has sat empty since February, yet all messagesevery posted there were very positive, and I replied to each one.

During the recent nominations for the comics awards, either nobody remembered my comic or it sucks too bad.

Is it possible to get listed in Keenspace if I still stay on my own bought-and-paid webspace? That way, Keenspace readers find out about it, Keenspace doesn't have to give me any webspace of their own, and we're all happy.
