New People on the Forums?

Post by ZOMBIE USER 3098 »

I don't know whether I'm supposed to be surprised or not but it seems that about every half a year, new posters come on the forums and most of the older ones are gone. Or is it due to the fact that most of us are too busy with schoolwork?

Anyone can provide me an answer?

I think people come here a lot when there comic is new and they get the help and advice they need to get a started afresh. Then time is a huge factor. You do get some old faithfulls that pop on now and then. Also remember Keenspace forums have been a touch bumy since January. I forgive you guys... KEENSPACE RULES (even if its been a bit bumpy) :D

I think if you did some research you'd see that the poster "die-offs" usually follow a huge Keen-related catastrophe.

Personally, I'd love to post more often, but the windows of opportunity are rare and fleeting.

I'm about to hit the 'submit' button--Let's see what happens, kids!
Of course, I'm the one that isn't JP Sloan or Jim North.

I'm pretty new here, but I can't see myself posting that often unless I wanted to plug something. This BB seems pretty hard to navigate to me. And SLOW!

Why are the comic forums listed in some other order than alphabetical? It must be a pain trying to find the one you want, and there doesn't seem to be any search facility. Other boards have.

Think I will stick around though, mostly to dole out unsolicited advice. And my excellent homemade lasagne.

Oh yeah, the plug. I've finally, finally done a lovely new shiny episode of "The Brain, An Owner's Manual."

Yea really, die-offs are pretty regular around here, I was part of the first big one back when K-Space started. It was pretty much due to everyone losing interest in their comics, or lack of time, or probably something else. Sometimes people just get turned off when their fanbase stays as just a coupla friends and family members and doesn't skyrocket by the time they finish their first strip. It sucks, but it happens *points to self*
Anyway, the board is pretty crap-tacular as it goes right now. I have a DSL connection and it takes over 2 minutes to connect. You have to actually WANT to read whats on here to hop on in. K... Im done repeating what everyone else has already stated

I've been lurking here for almost a year on and off as the forums are up. I rather enjoy reading the discussions although I don't post very much.

Loading time is a bit of an issue for me, but I still pop by regardless. I just don't have much to say. :)

Kinda hard to tell how old members are with all these Dec 31 1969 people, hmmm.
But who really cares who got here first. Lets talk comics and the joy that they bring us!

Post count is a pretty good way to tell who is lying through their teeth when they say "I'm new here! WHEEE!"

Not that I would lie through my teeth like that.

Hey, don't bother hiding it, we all know you just spent yesterday spamming some minor comic's forum 2500 times so you could pretend to be an oldbie. :P
(I'm still here! Sometimes. But I've long since moved my own forum to a more reliable host...)

Then there's a lot of posters who post a lot, then get tired, and then you never see them again.
Like me

Or you have those people who don't bother joining for the longest time because they think that the only things ever discussed here are interresting KeenSpace related stuff and that they as a outsider will have no relation or relevance to what is going on and feel as though they will be shunned or ignored by the regulars since they're so much more experienced at the whole forum thing until one faithful day when you finally decide to get your webcomic up and running you join and hope over hopes that someone somewhere will read your sad little suburban story and at the same time find out that 90% of everyone else in the forums are exactly the same as you except that they all have thier comics up whereas you have nothing but a 30+ archive and a site yet to go up because you procrastinated forever and finally got your freind on the matter but are too busy with school to do a god damned thing about it...

...I mean, uh, I'm new too.
