My vote : don't worry about it. Link the comics you like and assume people will link you if they like you. ^_^

Everybody's always in a hurry to expand their readership, especially if they're a young comic (read less than 6 months old) but in all honesty the best way to attract readers is to improve on your comic.

But then again, I'm as far from a "push your comic" type person as you can get. When I started, though, I joined lists, webrings, dropdowns, voting sites, etc etc etc. None of it really had that much of an impact on my readership. After about 2 months of that, I resigned from everything, pulled all the detritus off my page, and quit caring so much. I'm lots happier now!

Readers will come. Have patience young Jedi!

Very true! Recently, when i restarted my comic, I was all about promoting. I looked to join lots of dropdowns, I bugged all my friends to read, and so forth. But I realized that it wasn't improving me or my comic at all. Now I decided that I'll learn to improve my drawing skills, so I can actually use the to make my comic, and with enough time, I'm sure that readers will come. But even if they don't, it won't really matter because I'll have improved my skills, and I'll have a real sence of accomplishment. Another thing, the kind of readers you get with lots of cross-promotion and such probably aren't readers who'll stay with you. If you use your comic as a tool to improve, you'll probably get more recurring readers, which is of course better in the long run.

that's nice and all, but you do need a starting no. of readers. if no-one know your strip is out there, it could be the greatest thing in the world. still, no-one will read.
especially with all the new comic not listed on the keenspace home starting page, it's a little hard te get people to find you.

True. Honestly, though, having a little while to get into form before getting massive exposure is nice. Lots of people leave after seeing the first page. The better the first strip they see is, the more likely they are to stay. I recommend not rushing it at all until you've gotten comfortable with your look and feel on the front page.

Then to get a spiffy good link, as <a href="http://framed.keenspace.com">Damonk</a> to add you to the new discoveries list and add yourself to directories and search engines.

Links from comics will come as comic artists discover your site.
