Applying for a character concept designer job.

Watermarked because it's for an actual, honest-to-god low budget zombie flick. Man I hope I get this job. :D

Ooh I've shot one of those (okay micro-budget) I almost smacked one of the actors for spewing fake blood in the camera, then the director yelled at me and I wanted to smack him instead. But otherwise good fun work for almost no pay, at least I learned how to do some makeup stuff.

Both of those are pretty awesome! :)

My new website banner, v. 4.0

Since all my other attempts that actually took effort kept ending in FAIL, I decided that this time I'd just grab a piece of scrap paper out of my work trashcan and scribble up a new one! I call this my "throwing my hands up in frustration and despair and have given up on the damnned thing" version.

This will be the banner I'll be using until I'm able to find someone to do a proper, better one.

Honestly that looks best so far pete, should work nicely with the background texture you're using.

I sort of watched some episodes of duck dodgers....so I drew the Queen of Mars.

Really???

You're kidding, right?! That was a completely piss-ant effort that took no time at all to do! And you guys are saying I should actually keep it??? MAN, I NEVER saw that one coming!

Course, I guess stranger things have happened. There's a story I've heard that Eric Schwartz, creator Sabrina Online, participated in a completely ad-hoc auction at a con once, where he submitted to what amounted to a crappy stick figure drawing of a vixen, and it fetched more money for him than the other finished piece he did that took so many painstaking hours to complete!

Next (and hopefully final) question: Do I keep the gray textured background, or should I use the solid cream-colored BG I've since switched to?

What's funny is that the feedback I'm getting from some non-CG artists is that THEY like it, too! :eyebrow:

You said it! I don't remember her being so hot in the original, but eh... 8-)

She was pretty damn hot in the original, but like Power Girl, internet art fiends made her progressively hotter over the years.

Why not, maybe you achieved spontaneity once you relaxed and stopped putting pressure on yourself?

Well, thanks! I guess it's not bad for a 1:30 am sketch then!

Story of my life on dA  But that's the point; The comic is pure traditional art, hand-lettered so with the title in markers the only digital element is the page's font.

I dunno - maybe? Wouldn't be the first time I've happened on a lucky accident.

I was thinking I had a logo as bland and generic as the comic, but I like your take better. :)

Having said that, tho, you do give me an idea of what kind of background to put with it...

I cleaned up the previous version a little and put my name closer to the title as suggested by a non-CG toonsmith pal of mine. I think I'll make it official:

Now I just need to hammer out a background...
