Re: Comicgenesis in Spam Apocalypse?
is there a catcha script on new user accounts? I know that its rediculously easy to circumvent now. But at least having some sort of protection would be good.

Or some type of approval for new members... it'd be easier to weed out spammers before they've littered all over the forum.
That's the thing. Influx of new members would likely stop as most of them come because we're associated with the host. It's also nice that this one has an actual association with the site where many of our comics are still hosted.

Goes to show how useful it is.
Yep. I believe we've had it for years, actually.Phact0rri wrote:is there a catcha script on new user accounts?

I'm curious, McD, is it easier to delete spam when they start their own threads or when they post in existing ones?

If you only have access to the moderator control panel, it's easier to do with individual threads. You can select and delete multiple threads. In a thread, you have to go delete one-by-one.
But, if you have admin access, you can delete all of a user's posts at once so it doesn't matter.

Hey! I'm never evil! Remember when we were doing the test "what kind of villain you are" and it turned out that I couldn't be a villain?Phact0rri wrote:Wait I thought we already fought mcd's evil rise to power... twice.

The government has fallen. This was McDuffies's plan all along, to simply out wait all the other challengers to the throne and assume control through a police state under the guise of "protecting us from the spambots". Remember, it's for your own good.Phact0rri wrote:Speaking of power... who is the current cg president? Is it still claude?

We should build a statue to him ... then deface it.Cope wrote:He just had to die first, same as V.Laemkral wrote:Yep, so it's ironic that it only happened after he left.Fading Aura wrote: Wasn't that Jim North and AnarchySpace's goal?
It would be what he'd want us to do
