I usually don't bother with these stupid Internet memes. But very rarely one will catch my interest, and this is one of them. IMO if you're able to think of your characters as real persons, it in turn helps you create more "real," or multidimensional characters in your work. Ask yourself, who are the people you draw? What are their interests? Dislikes? How well do you know the people you represent? You might be surprised.

So, just for the fun of it, I figured I'd fill this out. Only this time, as the title implies, answer the questions as one of my characters would answer it. Most of the questions were easy, but some of them I had to think about a while! Really forced me to get into the head of the responder, you know?

So, here it is: the Girl Confessions Meme, as filled out by my own Frieda McVixen. Anyone else wanna try, it too?

I LOVE doing these things for characters

I tried to answer them as one of the girls from my own comic, but so many of the questions are too modern to make sense, so I'll leave the playing-along game to the others here.

Incidentally, this is the kind of thing I was going for when I built the Characters page for my comic. I set it up as if they had been provided a series of short answer prompts, which led to some characters writing long-winded responses and some characters leaving very terse ones. I think it worked better than your average "statistics" character page that lists things such as hair and eye color, height/weight (I rarely see a need for those to be included, honestly, especially when it's specific, like "5'4" and a half and 140 pounds"- who needs to know that unless it's a medical comic?) likes/dislikes. In addition I think it makes the character page more fun to read as it seems more like it belongs with the comic as opposed to something the writer is using as a reference sheet.

Awful Confession time- When I was a young teen, I loved taking these quizzes on my livejournal, because I hoped the boy I liked would come across it and think that I was very interesting and witty and decide that he liked me after all.

It's pretty much directed at that demographic. If there's any consoling fact, it's that I'm certain the quiz writer has in fact matured and now either a. has other interests or b. realizes that she (or he) didn't need to hide them in the first place.

Not saying that it makes it okay at all, but just giving the perspective of someone who admittedly was boy-crazy for most of my life up until college, at whic point I was in a more eye-opening environment.

It's not probing, no, but it's fun to consider how your character might approach such questions.
