Child's Play Charity Dinner

Post by Laemkral »

So BEC and I went and represented tonight, looking our best and shiniest. Totally forgot to get a picture of us together, or of much that happened tonight. To sum it all up, the dinner is an amazing experience to be at. If you find yourself blessed with an abundance of money then you need to go because it is really something to see a bidding war by two CEOs, through proxies no less, for ownership of a Portal gun replica that topped over 15,000 dollars.

Personally, I walked away with possession of Starcraft II digital download codes and that was pretty awesome. So, happy that I managed to win something at the silent auction.

Even more happy that in the live auction I won the appearance in a Penny Arcade strip.

How much did that set you back, Moneybags? (If you don't mind my asking....)

$5100. A bargain compared to previous years. I have some investments that have permitted this generosity.

You should appear in that PA comic as a photomontage with your actual photo.

All last night! It was surreal. We actually talked for a long time with the designer who made the Portal gun, before and after the event, and there were famous geeky people all over the place. Gabe, Tycho, the Desert Bus guys - a highly specific and highly awesome crowd.

I bid on a monster plushie, but lost it, to no one's surprise.

But I got to be glamorous by proxy! Woo!

You'll always have a monster plushie in your heart.

And actually I was wondering when Laem is going to be appearing in PA :)

Ha ha, I realized I misread it shortly after posting, but was far too lazy to go back and fix it!

The usual Penny Arcade style is to put off the auctioned comic until the day before the next Charity Dinner. So expect it in about a year.
