It dropped off my radar, but so much does these days. I'll probably see it after it's on DVD.

I heard Jonah Hex was pretty bad. But I'll probably see it anyways cuz of Megan Fox :P

Am I the only one who doesn't see what all the fuss about Megan Fox is? Sure, she's hot (okay, REALLY hot). But so are most of the girls in showbusiness, and some of them are actually in... you know... good movies. Why not see something that has eye-candy and a good story?

Bah. Maybe my female need for deeper connection is just showing. I'll have to stamp that out, pronto. Image

Megan Fox is attractive in that skanky way. So, mostly, not. I prefer a slightly more wholesome girl. Amy Adams, Ashley Tisdale, Ginnifer Goodwin, and quite a few others. There are many other Hollywood actresses who get into the smoking hot range without crossing the skank line.

I agree. Megan Fox was hot when Transformers first came out, but then it got so overplayed in the media and everything, and her attractiveness actually went down in my opinion. As soon as she became a sex symbol, her attractiveness became cliche. She is a very good looking woman, but its a very shallow attractiveness. Her allure is simply: "I have an amazing body, pouting lips, and luscious hair that isn't blonde". Cool, but any of the people Lego listed have more than two expressions for their face, so I'll stick to them.

She's a pin-up who's been grossly exaggerated. That being said, I still wouldn't say no to her. :D

Then again there are better comic characters than Marmaduke too.

Poor Marmaduke, the movie's got 2 stars out of 10 on IMDB. Now I wouldn't be surprised if the movie did deserve only those two stars, but I've got a feeling that most of those votes were made by people who didn't see the movie and were just so enraged at its creation.

I can't see anyone being enraged by the Marmaduke movie, just perplexed. Its existence makes absolutely no sense, and seems to be emblematic of the problem with Hollywood's blind rush to make movies out of any and all comic properties, whether they're well-suited or deserving or not.

Yeah, for one there's not enough material in 40 years of Marmaduke to make a feature movie of. And there's also no indication that people who read it are interested in any kind of story. But Garfield and Scooby Doo made some money and superhero movies probably aren't as big as they used to be, so we're probably gonna see every saturday morning and newspaper cartoon you can remember being made into a movie with at least one character done in CG... that is, if marm makes any money whatsoever.

From what I saw in trailer, marm's entire presence is kind of... uneasy, wrong... and since that's the central thing in the film, I can imagine people giving stars from the trailer, which isn't fair but it's probably not off the mark.
I thought Scooby was more creepy, tho. All cartoonish while everyone else was realistic. Like Mask, only Mask was probably supposed to be at least a bit creepy.

I agree there. Marmaduke really only works as a newspaper comic, if that. It'd be like if they made a Family Circus moviOHGOD NOW THEY'RE GOING TO MAKE ONE WHAT HAVE I DONE

You hit it on the head, as far as I'm concerned, and it's exacerbated by the fact that he's got dialog. Marmaduke does not carry on a dialog. That's just alien to the character.

It's funny, I was just thinking that Family Circus would at least be a better choice for a movie based upon single-panel gag strip. At least there's the narrative subtext of family life to draw from with Family Circus.

I like Jonah Hex pretty well, but the trailer made me go from excited... to I'll see it when it comes out on DVD.

This is true, actually. Family Circus movie could be about a road trip or something, those movies seem to do okay at the box office I guess. Momma, now there's a comic strip about which no movie should ever be made. Or Marvin. D: CGI Marvin probably with some adult head doctored onto a baby body=Nightmare Fuel.

I thought they pretty much already made a Marmaduke movie.

It was called "Beethoven" only Marmaduke was a St. Bernard named Beethoven. Same doggie antics, though. And used a real dog and was pretty good.*

*"Pretty good" statement is based off of memory of movie as seen when I was a kid. Nostalgia goggles apply.
