Comic Genesis Secret Santa 2009 Sign Ups

Post by SergeXIII »

Hey everyone, I'll be handeling Comic Genesis' Secret Santa event again this year. Last year went smoothly, so lets just recycle all of the rules again, with only a few amendments highlighted in blue:

Deadlines
Sign up by 11:59PM Thursday, November 26. (Pending complications, will be edited here should that arise)
Assignments will be issued Friday, November 27. (Ditto)
Finished Work will be posted starting December 15. (Ditto)
Finished Work must be posted no later than December 22 lest you be forced to forfeit 1000 Respect Points.

-The qualifications for this Secret Santa event are more relaxed than usual, keep that in mind. So long as you find your comic has enough content and is a fair venue to display the work of others offer it up. That means if you're on a hiatus, and it isn't indefinite nor is it to end in the far future, offer it.
-You may PM me finished pieces to post if you wish.
-Needless to say do not reveal your Secret Santa until you post your finished work. I will not take requests on assignments. It will be a strictly random affair. D20s will be involved.
-Please, only offer up your comic if you think there is enough for another to work with. If your story hasn't taken off, your archive consists mainly of guest art, or your comic has ended, then do not offer it. If you think that your comic is on the fence, describe the situation to me and I'll make the call.
-Since I will know the assignments feel free to PM me should you need any help or run into complications.
--Please specify which web comic(s) you have and their URLs.
--Should you specify more than one comic it will be presented as a choice to your secret Santa (a.k.a. the Secret Santa is not required to do more than one)

I don't think I have enough material for someone to work with, but do you think I could be one of those people that you call upon in case someone else can't get theirs finished in time?

I'm so tempted. It is is my last year doing The Longest Sojourn after all.

Well hopefully. If I keep to schedule...

These things are always fun. Find a new comic, get some art, get something to draw. Everybody wins.

This sounds refreshing, please sign me up (I've been absent on the forums for a long long time, but my comic is still alive...)

Though not universally, squares are widely regarded as having an even number of sides that has been conjectured by experts in the field to be approximately four.

I know I'm on something of a hiatus right now, but I'm hoping to remedy that soon. But, I've done this before, so I'm pretty sure I'm eligible. So, I should like to participate again.

Well, I'm currently on hiatus, but I'm hoping that I'll once again start up full speed in December. So I'd like to take the plunge and throw my hat in the ring for consideration. http://somepeopleschildren.comicgenesis.com
I hope your not expecting me to make a joke not related to ninjas, pirates, Jesus, cyborgs, or a combination of all of those.

Also, for anyone concerned about Red City, I'll be adding four full length comics to the archive by time November is out (part of an assignment), and things will be going on with G'nerds2000 too.

(peers in) Can I still join even though my ComicGenesis page is now just a mirror? I'm still updating it! >_> (I'd preferably be displaying finished art on my main site because it gets more traffic because I actually remember to update three times a week there...) I'm a Secret Santa whore. >_>

Yup. The qualifications for this event are really relaxed under my lead. So long as someone has enough material to work with and will be seen (as in a comic isn't dead) thats all that matters.

I'd love to be a part of this, but I also know my story's just getting off the ground. What do you think, Serge? 17 pages up, the usual minimum 20 will be up in the next two weeks, pages in the buffer through January, and there's a wealth of Cast and Sourcebook information and the art keeps coming.

From a passing glance I'd say its fine, but I can't pull up your site at the moment, it isn't loading for me. I'll try again in an hour or so, probably just my CPU, but once I can load your site I'll add you to the list.

Did you ever get mine to load, Serge? A friend of mine has trouble loading it, too. I wonder if it's the 1024 X 1325 pixel size of the comic pages. I feel it's the best size for the comic to be presented, particularly because of the Papyrus font I use for the Vampire's word balloons.

The rest of the site is very simply designed, so I can't think of any other reason it might have trouble loading.

It isn't that because my monitor is 1920x1260. This is what I'm seeing

I looked at your source code and figured out the problem: it is not compatible with Internet Explorer. You should at the least add an < If IE> tag to display a message telling the reader to use another browser.

I'm using Opera and I see nothing but white space.

Try using this to test your site in common webbrowsers. http://browsershots.org/

Seeing as your site isn't appearing in two common browsers, you might want to fix it, though...

And thanks for linking to my main mirror, Serge!
