I'd love to; still waiting for my password so I can start building a site on CG.

I have the first coupla pages up on Photobucket, tho, if anybody's curious:

Well, if you insist.

Perdire is a Sci-Fi/Space Opera based webcomic run by myself and two friends. It differs from most other webcomics mainly in the fact that it is non-comedic, but more akin to traditional comics. We have three pages up right now and we update Mondays and Fridays. Please take a look and tell me what you think.

It takes some time to get going, but most importantly is to make something that you actually enjoy doing? I find that if I can't go "awesome" to even my own work, how would I expect anyone else to?

God, took at least 2 years to get my site consistant and it still needs more work! Nice start, reminds me of Star Trek a little. BTW, what's the software you're using?

There are comics out there that are non-comedic! Mine's one of them, if you go browsing you'd be surprised at the diversity of work that's out there. I like youir start, reminds me very much of Halo, although beware of using Comic Sans as a font, it's about as un-epic as it gets!

Heh. That description sounds rather a lot like my own comic, above.
Please take a look and tell me what you think.
Buuuuuuuut taking a look at it, I think we're headed in radically different directions. Granted, it's hard to tell from three comics, one of which appears to be a title page of sorts, but mood-wise, they're quite different and they start in quite different places.

For a more specific critique, the art's not bad at all. A fair amount of detail, decent coloration, you can actually tell what things are...
Storywise, tho...well, I bet a lot of people will enjoy, but it's clearly not gonna be my thing. Oh, the premise doesn't sound bad--very Battlastar Galactica--but I tend to prefer my fiction rather more, um...happy? I'm shying away from the word 'angst', here, but that's the one that suggests itself first, given the opening narration and much of the look. I mean, if we take the Battlestar Galactica thing as an analogy, I think my own comic is more like the original series, while yours is more like the re-make; not a perfect comparison, but I think you get idea.
Granted, I may be wrong after so few strips, but...that's my first impression.

Anyway, well done; glad to see someone else going for "graphic novel" rather than "comic strip" as well as sci-fi. :) Cheers!

Feedback is always welcome.

I'm really liking some of the comics I've been introduced to on the site already!

Thanks! :)
And funny you should mention; my original story pitch was, basically, "What about Star Trek would have to change in order for me to like it?" 'Course, the new movie answered that question rather well, but by then I'd already been working on this for quite some time.
And it's grown quite a bit since then, but that was the original idea.
BTW, what's the software you're using?
3D Studio MAX. Version 3.1, if you can believe it; it's ancient, but it's also paid for, legal. :)
And, of course, Photoshop for compositing.

Thanks for looking! :)

Oh, I'm having plenty of fun making the pages. This isn't so much of a project as something to keep myself active artistically between projects or on break during projects.

The art is just quick doodles, and what's more important for me is getting the image to match the message rather than to make the image truly impressive. Everything's identifiable and that's all I need.

Whoa! Careful with the C-word there, we're using Comicbook for the narration and Komika for the speech, there hasn't been any sounds yet but we will be using Deathrattle for sound effects.

Perdire: I'm a fan of Badaboom for my sound effects, can't even remember what my default text font is! (Remember kids, update your comic more often!)

Hehe. No need to feel awkward. My comic back in 06 failed because I couldn't stick to the plot, and so I'm doing a plotless comic now just so that I can stay active artistically and not fall out of practice.

I'm still trying to get my CG page working but here's a couple samples of what I'm doing. comics, smoking

Just introducing myself .. I"m TJ .. i'm a Big fan of Jennie Breeden.. have a simliar sense of humor, and thought i'd blatently copy her conceptual idea of a running autobiography mixed with an unhealthy dose of twisted observations. I have discussed my strip with her, and gotten her permission to abuse her skills...(so once my comic strip is up, and you see simliarites from thedevilspanties.com .. you know why, and you know she knows) i have a little over 100 strips sketched.. originally was looking for an artist to work with me to make a prettier finished product than i can produce. I am a bit of an autistic artist i suppose.. (shameless plug warning) http://www.everyoneelseonhere.deviantart.com is my "art art" which isn't bad.. i've no formal education, and started drawing about 1 year ago. my comic strips have improved in quality between the firsts and the most currents.. but seeing my "realism" art.. and the comic strip.. most people wouldn't believe same person did it..

I've found finding an artist who is willing to commit to a 3 a week strip .. is a bit like finding the 4 leaf clover. no offense intended to all those fine artists out there.. but by nature.. artists seem to have these things called... lives? ya know.. jobs, college, boyfriends etc . .. so expecting one to commit to an upstart comic .. eh.. well .. so i got impatient and decided to put my strip up on line anyway ..

i haven't actually posted any yet.. i'm guessing my first one will be Friday July 3, gives me time to tweak the sketches into something resembling a comic, and figure out how to use the immerscapeblogotubes to work.. as i've never done any sort of website manipulation or FTP'ing ..

soo currently mine is called, for lack of a more original name .. The Adventures of Kiltman ... and the site is http://www.kiltman.comicgenesis.com

Ha! Same here. I decided to do my comic after I met Jennie at Anime Boston this year.

oh good.. then you will appreciate the concept of "things never to say" ... jennie does the "what not to say in the bedroom" .. a good chunk of my strip is dedicated to the concept of things nver to say .. though i expanded the concept to include doctors offices, surgery rooms, funeral homes etc .. and as i previously said.. cleared it with jennie first.. as though i'm open about blatently poaching her ideas...i wanted her permission first.. and she granted it.. :) she her self poached heavily from calvin and hobbes (and now that you know that ..if you didn't already.. you'll see the influence)

she managed to put me in her comic strip last year.. around the time she went to "mecca" .. the utilikilts world headquarters.. (shameless link here) :) http://devilspanties.keenspot.com/d/20080605.html (follow for 10 episodes or so) i'm the guy in the got kilt? t-shirt

but aside from being a fan .. she's an amazingly REAL and very sweet, nice and totally unaware of her fame.. person... one day.. maybe.. i'll be there.. :)

Hello again, all.

For those from after my time, I'm Corgan, nicet'meetcha.

I've been gone from the hallowed halls of Comicgen for...what...two years now? Three? I lost count. I'm not doing regular updates yet or anything. Right now I'm just trying to remember how I make comics...and how to fix the storyline of my main comic.
