Watchmen Movie Thread (spoiler alerts)

Post by KWill »

I watched Watchmen on what is now yesterday in my timezone, and all I can say is that it sucked.

I'm well aware it isn't out yet in most places, so I'm not going to go into detail as to why on here, so as not to spoil it (prematurely) for anyone else. (For those sufficiently interested as to why I hated it to risk spoilage, I listed most of my nitpicks on my LJ.)

I read your livejournal and I'm appalled.

This is in stark contrast to another reviewer who called the movie the most reverent portrayal of a graphic novel he'd ever seen.

Jeez.

Just saw watchmen. I agree with KWill. While the movie (or some parts of it anyway) was visually great, it's pretty flat.

Another thing I'd like to mention is the motherfucking horrifying acting. One of the key moments in Watchmen that involves Laurie has been utterly murdered by Malin Akerman. The guy who played Ozymandias made him look like a goddamned douche instead of a world-weary genius. The only one who seemed to be decent was the guy who played Rorschach.

Maybe we should split this off to a Watchmen thread with spoiler alerts?

Kinda hope this drives Roger Moore to kill himself so we don't have to hear him whine anymore about people turning his shitty comics into shitty movies.

Mileages vary. They killed most of the stuff I loved in the comic, but then again maybe I saw different things than others. Though he could be referring to the fact that you do get to see all of Dr. Manhattan (probably more than in the book).

Don't have to. First scene that Ozymandias shows up has them.
