I've tried the mouse and I honestly find the pen easier to use for mouse-related tasks. I don't like to have my tablet plugged in all the time anyway, lest I catch my foot on the cord and drag my whole laptop off the desk, haha.

(I laugh but I can see it happening.)

Wacom Intuos2 User. (actually my second tablet. I'm... hard on my pens.)

Anything other than a Wacom tablet is going to be a crapshoot.

For the first few months, I'd take the paper scans and trace them using the tablet. As you get more comfortable you'll be able to freehand with it, which will speed up your process.

I trip over cords all the time. This is why I keep my Cintiq behind the couch. Although that thing has a cord as thick as its stylus. Go Cintiq!

I can't count the amount of times I've tripped and busted my chin... cause of that pesky chord.

I had a Wacom tablet and the cord pulled away almost immediately. It still worked, but the wires were all exposed. I had the tablet for years and never got completely comfortable with it. It was only about $100 but for a non-pro it worked well and lasted a long time, I just could never get the hang of looking at the screen while drawing on my lap.

Now I have an HP touch screen laptop and I love it more than anything. It's as easy as drawing on paper. Of course, it was more expensive than a low-end Wacom, but if you're in the market for a laptop, it was actually pretty affordable as lappys go. It's kind of like a Cintiq that can surf the internet and play video games! It's even got a nifty Wacom sticker on it, so it just goes to show that Wacom rocks.

I love tablet but I rarely use it nowadays. It sits there, next to the tv, not even installed right now I think.

I just switched to tablets last month (wacom bamboo). I can't get over how cool and easy it is to use.
