Keenlace 2008: Pinups and lace, baby.

Post by DJMayhem »

So yes, it seems to be that time again- it's the Keenlace season. This year, I'll be handling the job alone, and I'm happy to be heading up this time honored tradition.

For the new people hanging about, vat is zis Keenlace? Keenlace is a community driven event where people submit their various characters in pinup style art in their underwear. Each week after the begin date, the pages are updated in waves of five comics each. Honestly, the main page of the site has it down: "Keenlace is a collection of comic characters (male/female/whatever) in their nightwear, underthings or otherwise in dishabille. Pictures range from tame to tempestuous, funny to fell, sweet to sultry...".

Rules are the same as always:
  • No outright porn. Seriously, I've seen some stuff that would make pornstars cry if they saw it (incidentally enough, Rock almost cried when i showed him that stuff...)
  • There is no deadline yet. I'm open to submissions, but there will be a cutoff date to which I will stop taking entries.
  • Do not complain that your comic hasn't gone up yet. If i give you a confirmation, it will go up there.
  • Sexy pictures of K-Dawg are not allowed. He's done enough to charm women.
  • DO NOT PM ME THE PICTURES. That's right. DON'T. Instead, email them to me at Keenlace at gmail dot com with your own name, Comic's name, Character's name, and comic URL. As I've mentioned before, I'll email you back a confirmation that i received the image.
That's all there is to it! I'll be looking forward to your entries!
You know, i should work on this.

Just today I was thinking about this. One of my pics from last year is still bringing in hits.

Could we use characters from an old comic? I haven't started yet on my new one.

If I may make a suggestion, load the images as you get them so that even if your life gets crazy they still update on time. I think the biggest complaint last year was that it didn't update even though we knew there were pin ups submitted.

Using the Auto Updater will cut down on your complaints significantly. It will also allow you to tell artists who inquire on which date their image will appear. I don't think you need to tell people in the confirmation note. You want them popping in all the time to look for theirs after all, but if someone has a concern, having an exact date of publication will get the person off your back. Less stress for you is a good thing.

Are you allowing comics not hosted on Comic Genesis to participate?

last year, two people were handling the whole season, and as such, our schedules would conflict and work wouldn't get done. I'm planning to keep to tradition and update weekly, in waves.

I haven't thought about that, honestly. I think I'd leave it up to the Community to decide that... what do you think, guys and girls? should we allow comics from outside CG to participate?
You know, i should work on this.

That wasn't the problem. Fact is, it's just more work than it looks like, and things got out of hand. And everyone forgets about the Autokeen problems last year.

Anyway, we've had outside cartoonists join us in past years, I see no reason not to let them join this year. The more vulnerable young men and women the better.

You can always use autokeen but backdate updates for previous week.

I don't think I've ever done this... My characters are too asexual.

Though Fatty might look really cute in her skivvies...

The majority of your characters are also underage children.
There is something wrong there if you take the extra step of drawing them in pinups and lace, Nanda. D:

I could get the death penalty in 10 countries for drawing my cast in their skivvies.

The floating orb robot it is then.
