What is the best unfinished comic story ever?

Slingers was so much fun. And I loved the art.

How did they end it anyway? I remember something really retarded. Then, blind fury.

Thanks to Dusk's new abilities to sense things about her teammates, the kids find out that the Black Marvel has been taken by Mephisto in accordance with the contract Marvel entered into to get the kid's suits. So they go down to hell to find Marvel trapped inside a huge crystally thing and Mephisto hanging around being all evil and stuff.

They then proceed to talk. A lot.

Eventually, they convince Mephisto to let Marvel go (I don't recall exactly how), Marvel dies and goes to . . . well, not hell, anyway. I don't think they specified whether he actually made it to heaven or not.

When they get back up to Earth, they decide to disband and go their separate ways. Prodigy, at the very least, decides to step down from being a superhero, and I think Hornet did too, not that it really matters since both of them took the mantle back up at some point later anyway. Everyone leaves the rooftop except Ricochet, who stands around for a bit before he remembers, oops, he's the only one of the four who can't get on or off the rooftop under his own power.

Canned laughter, fade to black, roll credits.

It did all come off as kind of ridiculous, but then this all probably wasn't supposed to happen until at least a few years later, and certainly not in such a compressed amount of time. Being told "Oh, by the way, we're cancelling your series, so you've got about three issues left to tell your story and get out" kind of crimps the creative flow, neh?

I dont know about print comics, but two of the best online comics that no longer update and remain unfinished are Fallen and Return to Sender.

Return to Sender's Verabee has moved on to print comics (an aspiration of many) and I have no idea what happened with Fallen's author Aido. Life got in the way, I suppose.

Regardless, even though they remain unfinished and/or abandoned, I highly recommend them as a read. They're well worth the time. ^^

I'm right there with people who listed Steampunk and Battle Chasers. I loved those books.

Slingers would've been nice to see continue too. As overdone as the plot point was, I loved the moment when Prodigy stops being a dick and holds an entire building up 'til it comes crashing down on him. One of my favorite moments in comics.

I don't remember a versus Bob story, I will look that up! CV's spin off series only lasted three issues, in which he single handedly defeated the entire superhero population of Deertown-Hobeville just before actual supervillains and a giant monster showed up. I never got to find out if he saved the day or saved the giant monster or if he ever found out that his love interest was a superhero herself. *SIGH*

It woulda been so awesome.

Rukis and Aido, the creators of Tourniquet and Fallen respectively, live about 15 minutes from me. I've met them at a local convention. Life is very busy for them. I live with fading hope that Kelen might one day return. Her site redirects elsewhere now, but only to another broken/non-existent site.

Seconded! A dark, underground comic that was spun off from a humourous underground (barely, but still, underground) comic that managed to keep both the dark and humourous aspects. Do you know how The Joker is the Loony Guy who counter-balanced Batman's "grim and gritty" heroics? The Chainsaw Vigilante was the "grim and gritty" guy who balanced the Tick's loony heroics.

And it was Genius! Genius I tell you!

Strings of Fate, by Jen Wang. It was a really cute take on the Chinese Zodiac, but she got artistically exhausted from it, and gave it up. She went on to work on Flight.

I really miss it :/

Hellshock, was a great unfinished comic. Jae Lee, hated writing and got completely burnt out on it.

suposedly there's been talks about a finishing it up for a graphic novel, but I just keep hearing whispers about it. It was actually one of my all time favorite comic series finished or not.
