What do you hate most about doing your comic?

Post by Jesslynstormheart »

For me, it would have to be the coloring. Basically, because it's so time consuming and the last step of the process when I'm ready for it to be over and done with. I've considered ditching the colors but I think that would be suicide for my webcomic since it's something I offered from the beginning.

Just curious if other people have something in the process of making your webcomic that you find particularly annoying.

I try to keep positive, but hey, I've got my beefs.

#1 is probably how time consuming the process is. It forces me to take the story much slower than I want to.
This is going in my notebook titled "Things I Didn't Know about Surface Dwellers."

I find the photoshop stuff (scanning, doing the lettering and shading) fairly tedious. I don't much like drawing on a computer.

Does losing interest count?

Losing interest, although hand lettering has become a new worry for me. I'm always afraid of misspelling something and not realizing it.

Inking =O The fun and challenge is in the pencilling, and it seems like inking is just a necessary step so that the comic doesn't look like crap when you scan it =p

For me it's got to be how I can't tell the thing as fast as I want to.

I also rarely look foreword to lining it.

I also hate not having a machine to draw my comics for me

I hate not being able to make things look right. And erasing pencil lines; that's just tedious.

I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they go by.

Truly, I hate everything about making a comic. Every bit of the process is tedious and annoying and I'd much prefer to never have got involved in the first place. It's a bit like life in that respect.

I hate making crowd scenes. Looking at some comics sand how they do it, I can't help but feel its a bit cheap, but at the same time, fast.

The fact that I take 13 hours per page. Roughly. I love inking and I ADORE colouring... and putting it all together is fun... but it all takes.. sooo long. Hands hurt me :( and arms. and legs.

It doesn't look the way I see it in my head. Hell, it doesn't look as good as I could do it, given more time.

It's not the particular part of process, it's particular scenes. Dialogue scenes are a kind of pain, for instance.

Maybe you can check a book on inking or few. When you pick up some inking rules and techniques, the process becames more challenging and far drom simple tracing.
