Apparently Where's Waldo is the funniest thing in the world. o_o Someone should make a whole webcomic that does nothing but jokes about childhood fads.

Actually, I think I'm done with Webcomic Battle. I'm not comfortable with asking my readers directly for votes, which is why I'm not on any of these OMGTOPWEBCOMICS!!!111 sites or anything like that. And that puts me in a bad position against authors that do bother their readers for that kind of thing.

I don't think I've ever seen more than 200 voters or so on WCB in an entire day, so it's pretty easy to tip the scale.

I look at it as a promotional opportunity. Last I checked, I've gotten about 500 hits from my comic's profiles on Webcomic Battle. Pretty good, considering it's free.

I try to be as fair as possible, so I ask my readers to vote if they think I should win, and if not, no hard feelings. Although most of my readers seem to only care about the comic, and disregard everything else on the site. But that's par for the course in the webcomic world.

Anyway, don't get discouraged, Tenma. I thought the comics you put up on there were really good. Why deny yourself free publicity?

Holy Jeez.
I didn't think I'd last beyond my second day... and I expected to be bumped off a dozen times since then (including by you two, Tenma and Shishio). It's still close - and it'd be nice to finally go out against JTigerclaw from CG.

Heh. Doesn't look like it's going to happen anymore. ;)

Still, if I gotta go, at least I can say I lost to the champ.

Thanks for the advice and support Shishio, but I only got 83 hits from WCB last month (and that's with a comic in the Hall of Fame top 10,) so I just don't think it's worth the risk to my already fragile ego to continue with it. :-)

Only 83 from a month on a site...

I'd take that. I'm only now getting that many a day from regulars... :)

Well, I lost, and thanks to something like a 20-7 run by That Guy at the end, it almost looks like I got creamed. So much for false hope.

I am fully convinced That Guy has created the comic that will never die. And that deserves props. Kudos.

I thought it was going to be a tough run for That Guy when Acid on a Plan (I think that's it) was the opponent. If that fell I can't imagine what someone will have to write to take down the CG Giant.

It would definitely be a shame if That Guy lost and the comic to take him out would lose immediately after. It would be like watching Ken Jennings on Jeopardy. I don't know if anyone remembers that guy but he got dozens of victories and the woman that beat him lost immediately after knocking him out.

That's enough of a rant from me. I think the bed is calling...I think

GooseBump City - A comic about life... the life of toys anyway. (We still aren't doing anything new)
Shapes, the Unanimated Series - It's seriously just a square, a triangle, and a circle (It's arrived, but not ready to be shown)
Halloween Cameo Caper 2009 . . . Sign up.
Currently reading: Atavism - Cope wins 'cause he replied first (I can't believe it concluded!)
Brothers (and Sisters) in Joining:
Hydriatus | evelynp | Xaybiance The Weird | poporetto | ]Blaze Series | Derek Dragomir | piggylove1940 | Synaptic-misfires
(I'm only allowed five URL's, so I'll just rotate)

You guys too young to know who Buster Douglas is?

If Bill Watterson put something up, it would eventually be defeated by something, if only because you can only deal with the same strip for so long.

I see your point.

But considering the Watterson example, I just pulled Yukon Ho! off my bookshelf to see what type of competition it could give That Guy. His comedy is a little too classic (if those are the right words)

Calvin mocking his family and pet tiger don't quite have the same shock value as seeing Waldo's skeleton in a closet.

And those are 83 hits you may otherwise have never gotten. Who cares what other people think? Don't be a pussy.

...wtf? Isn't caring what other people think the whole point of this Webcomic Battle thing? I mean, if you didn't want votes, you wouldn't enter, right?

Eh, but I guess you guys have a point. I'm not really in a position to refuse any exposure I can get.

You're letting this get to your ego? It's a bunch of yahoos on the Internet voting for what they think is funny. The Internet doesn't always have the best taste. (No offense, y'all.)

And yes, the publicity can only help. I'd never heard of your strip before now.

I think my comment may have come off too strongly. It's not like I'm the only one around here who thinks getting beaten sucks. :-D

A lot of you guys have healthier outlooks on the subject (whatever doesn't kill me makes me stronger, etc,) so I'll try to adopt a perspective like that myself.
