It was mentioned somewhere on CC that The Avatar was one of the 10 for March.

And this was a contest about what?

New addition to judging for the monthly contest

Post by Litisun »

Now one of the judges will be the members of the MMORGazette.com and ComiCatalog.com Forums. A polling thread has been placed at:
http://www.mmorpgazette.com/forums/inde ... wtopic=207

All members of the forums can now vote on the choice for the monthly winner. These votes will be tallied and used as a ballot equal to ONE of the ballots of the prior month's winners. If you are not a judge (and you know who you are) please feel free to log on and vote at the above location.

That's a really bad idea, dude. Now you're gonna get the comickers telling their readers to sign up on CC to vote, and it becomes a popularity/whoring contest instead of a quality contest. I mean, the toplist rankings are already there; if you wanted to find the most popular/whoring comics, that's what the list's for.

The result only counts as ONE (1) judge. There will still be at least six other judges who will be comic artists or authors to moderate the "popularity contest" aspect. I will not let it become a pure popularity contest, but having the poll will allow for some feeling of involvement for readers.

The poll gives me traffic and traffic gives the comics nominated an opportunity for traffic. I started the site to gain traffic and attention for web comics and this will help do that. Even if most people in the poll just vote and move on a certain percentage may actually stop and check out a comic that they may not have otherwise.

Ah, okay. I misread your previous post and thought that the visitors' votes were worth a lot more than they are.

I agree it was poorly worded. I need to go edit it for clarity.

Occasionally there is method to my madness, but most time I'm just plain nuts.

Well, to be fair, the list is chosen at random, so it's just luck that you got on there =/
