*lifts hand up* Yes, i named my computer... it's soooooo cool! In windows XP when you first start up you can name your comp and give it a profile... mine is called Mentos! (ya know, those chewy mints?) It's from a loverly phrase my cousin made up: I DEMAND TO BE MINTY. GIVE ME MENTOS, THE FRESHMAKER! he's just the coolest dude around...if not the one of the strangest, if ya wanna see what i mean his comic is http://middleroad.keenspace.com
------------------

^o^;; I named mine Lothlorien.... I figured it was more of a magical realm than a person with a personality.... and yes, I've read Lord of the Rings. Twice. I'll get around to the Thrid time after I see the movie for the third time. =D

i'm not alone!!!!!!
the names of dee, dork and dex are pretty coincidental actually. dee dee already had a name when she was given to me, and i just really like the name dexter, and dex needed a 'rival' and i thought of mandork! it wasn't after i named them that i realized whoa, dexter's lab!
------------------

I don't think that's Babar, man, he's the KING remember, not a doctor! Damn elephants, all look the same! And it just goes to show how much they needed Babar's leadership, given prior to him becoming king they all lived naked in the jungle.
(when I was little I made up a rhyme about him:
Babar, Babar, he doesn't drive a car!
Oh yes, he does, he also drives a bus!)
In a school where I did a co-op placement, the rendering lab was filled with SGI machines, all with really cool names - none if which I can remember. It must be a nerd thing, at my jr High we had a teacher who did both computers and math, and his math problems always featured the most original names outside a Roald Dahl book - the best being 'Skudgely'.
------------------

i guess it is a person thing rather than a geek thing, since most of the nice ppl i know name there puters, and most of the jerks don't.

Yes, me too. They're in the process of moving all the keenspace accounts to their own server so the update feature is offline for a wee while.

------------------
