Even though this thread was originally for the newcomers LAST year I think I'll plug away here anyway, to save potentially upsetting the people who have previously posted...
So anyway, Dreamleak started up early last June and so is eligable to be nominated for the Newcomers award, so if anyone thinks it deserves to be nominated, please don't let me stop you
I'd also hope some might think it worthy to be nominated for some of the other categories aswell!
Here's what the two latest pages look like if you're interested:

Pear-Pear is very new, but worth taking a look at (it's not mine). tangent pageant started up this year, it's a very experimental webcomic, so part of me doesn't think maybe it counts, but I'll throw it out there. I started the site with a friend, and have drawn four of the comics on it.
"You're reporters for @%&$-sake! Call them on their $&@#*!" Jon Stewart, to CNN.

A friend of mine told me that I had to register on this forum and that I had to pimp my comic in this thread. So here I am, and here's my comic - Jump Leads. It's British scifi-comedy with a twist of lemon. I created and write it. A friend, JjAR, does the art (apart from the current page, which is a "guest strip").
Edit: Here's a page. Enjoy.

My comic started in July of 2007.
Mint Condition.
You can check it out at <a href="http://mintcondition.comicgenesis.com/" target="_blank">http://mintcondition.comicgenesis.com/</a>
And I totally agree with the OP of this thread. The problem with newcomers is that they're new. So we shouldn't feel bad at all about nominating ourselves. Haha. Or pimping our stuff to an annoying degree.
Speaking of which...
Here's a sample, back from September of 2007. The art has improved a lot even from back then.

Well, I dinnae think that our comic'd really stand a chance, given the amazing things I've seen by perusing the thread...but then, who in their right mind would pass up a free chance to plug, eh?
Written by me and my old friend DarknessLord, and drawn by a new friend by the name of Pyroman, our comic is The Anime Invasion. It began in August of 2007, and since everyone else seemsta' be doing it, here's a sample--our very first comic.
'Fraid it's a bit shrunk down from it's normal size shown like this though--go 'the site and it's rather easier to read! ^__^

My turn to do some plugging, with my own webcomic 'Another Runner in the Night' which started last year.
It's based in the Shadowrun RPG universe so it might be a bit obscure to newcomers, but I intend to release an introduction soon.
A small preview:
Hope you like it!

That anime comic is really good. Usually when an American tries to draw in anime style it's really obvious that it's an American doing it. But that's some of the best anime drawn by someone who isn't actually Japanese. Haha.
And the comic above this post is really good too. Do you filter photos in photoshop, or do you actually paint them in the program? Either way it looks great.
I think at this point there's no telling who will win, or who will even get the nomination. There are literally thousands of webcomics out there, anyone of which could win.

Hey all, just discovered the awards. My comic debuted at Th3rd World in April of 2007. You can check it out at http://www.superfogeys.com.

My comic, <a href="http://ilikefish.comicgenesis.com/">Pearls of Mer</a> started May 19, 2007. Please read it!
Thanks! It's actually drawn by an Australian, (who is not me--I'm a writer ^_^), but I've been consistently impressed by the art as well--I can't believe that we managed to recruit Pyroman--the artist--to draw the comic. I've never seen him work, as I'm an American m'self, and so we live rather far apart, but it's my understanding that he does tha art by hand, and then scans them in and uses photoshop to tone them.mintcondition wrote:That anime comic is really good. No problem. It's really good. I can't wait until February 1st to see who the top nominees are. Here's hoping.
Oh and here are some more sample comics for anyone who hasn't visited the site:

Hi, everyone! Just discovered this forum, and I figured I'd stick around.
Also, I'm doing some shameless plugging. (But you knew that already.)
My fiancé and I started our own webcomic last March, and we're having a blast doing it. Please drop by the site and have a look at Geeks Next Door!

I'll bite. My comic is pretty young and not too well known yet. It's called "Gun Baby" and is set in an alternate universe, with technology roughly equivilent to earth in its early jet age. There's also elements of fantasy and scifi.
