The Newcomers thread
The problem with recognising newcomers is that... umm... they're *new*... so there's a good chance that a lot of people haven't heard of them before. If, like me, you took your first dive into the webcomics world in 2006, then use this thread to let us know! I want to see what I've been missing out on.
I feel kind of guilty for tooting my own horn, but in case anyone actually gives a shit, One-liners started May 19, 2006.

What the hell, I started up in September of 06.
A friend of mine started her new comic in May: http://aldus.comicgen.com/

Well, I'm a newcomer, although I shouldn't win anything, except perhaps "Outstanding Piece of Crap". Actually, I think that you should add that to your ballots as a write-in category/nomination.

Re: The Newcomers thread
Thank you for wording that in such a way that I wouldn't have to feel like I was nominating myself.davidcsimon wrote:The problem with recognising newcomers is that... umm... they're *new*... so there's a good chance that a lot of people haven't heard of them before. So, without suggesting it for nomination (but obviously interested in being nominated else I'd have ignored the opportunity), my strip began June 12, 2006.

I'm another late-September startup; thanks for the opening for almost-guiltless self-promotion.
The BRiCK House is a LEGO-based comic with updates on the weekdays.
It's a buddy picture about a man and his frog. Sorta.

We are new, too - been online since around the middle of July.
We started the comic for the purpose of improving our art, and so we welcome any and all comments on what we have so far (which will be 25 full-colour pages as of later today).
Hazard Pay is about an army brat in 1980's Cold-War Germany and her first foray into the local black market - it's an action/adventure type. We are now updating twice weekly as well.
I'd also like to give mention to a fellow webcomic-n00b that I met who writes a comic called Brink . It's about... well I'm not really quite sure what's going on yet at all - crazy people and an experimental drug program - very interesting and worth checking out.

I was totally going to mention Out There, but RC got here first.
Anyways, Angst is a Five Letter Word is one of my favorite new comics.
I'd suggest Half Wit and There's a Civilization on my Fork, but the artists have been missing for over a month.
And could this post be complete were I not to pimp my own comic?

I set my ATM card's number to "0001" because I'm number one!
"Hector!" and Risecomics.net started sometime Summer 2006. Not quite sure when exactly the site went live, but it was between May and June.
"Hector!" is a fantasy myth-bender with an emphasis on action and humor, although the content might be subject to drastic change in the coming years. Be sure to keep us in mind!

Fredo and Pid'Jin
Hi.
Fredo and Pid'Jin started out in 2005, but it got its own website in May 2006.
Enjoy the comic - Dr. Pendulo sez "Nominate!".

Well, duh... I'm kinda new too. And I'm at my first webcomic.
Synthetic Life started on July 11 2006 with the first 2 chapters already finished. I'm making everything all by myself: art, Script, webdesign. I want to become a big, popular comic creator in the future. Maybe I have some chances, and I believe I'll be with alot of work and improvements. Maybe someday, Synthetic Life will be on TV. (I KNOW most cartoon shows grew from comics)
Well, enough 'bout me, welcome to all newcomers!

Nuclear Powered Toaster is an '06 creation as well, glad to see there's a lot of us new folk to vy for the spot. Wouldn't mean anything if there wasn't a good deal of competition.
Feel free to check out my webcomic, Nuclear Powered Toaster, at http://www.npt.suizcomix.com

I think Planet Karen started this year too. It's well worth checking out if you don't know it, I think a serious contender for the Slice of Life category.

Been lurking for a while, figured I might as well toss my own new-ish comic in the hat:
Gravity, active since June 2006.
