I was wondering if there would be presentations like they had in the past, since they're doing a live ceremony this year.

If so, put me down as one who would be interested in doing one.

Live awards? How will that work? I'm curious.

All I know is that the actual presentation will by in my hometown of Orlando at this years MEGACON.

Should be fun.

Here's the problem: I will not be there-- much as I would like to go, I have school and work and a number of other obligations that I need to attend to way up here in Maryland. (The fact that the MegaCon is scheduled rather unusually in February doesn't help, either.)

My questions are: Will somebody be videotaping the event? And will nominees need to be present to receive the award, or will they be announced and then sent to them?

I highly doubt they have the means to get all the nominees over to Florida. And is they do, that's awesome.

This is the first time that we've done a live ceremony, so we'll be seeing how it works.

But no, nominees aren't required to attend to win (I'd be surprised if any of them are there). Yes, we'll still be doing an online ceremony. And yes, the folks over at the Gigcast will be recording the cermony and presenting it on the internet.

If you are going to be at Megacon and are interested in presenting, drop me an email and I'll see how we can work you in. If you're looking to do an online presentation, you need to get in touch with our Director of Ceremonies, Ryan Estrada.

I'm not sure what they have in store. Definately audio, but I think there was some talk of video at one point (hopefully that'll work out).

Wait wait, so we're not doing the 'random webcomickers draw pages that present the nominees' dealie this year?

If so, I am sorely disappointed. I wanted to do one.

Real life is drastically overrated.

We have no intention of abandoning our online ceremony. The live ceremony is just one more way to bring recognition to the winners.

Ah, good, good.

Then may I ask how one volunteers to draw a nominations announcement strip for the online ceremony?

I can't seem to find the info anywhere.

Ryan Estrada's email as shown in the WCCA site seems to be out of service at the moment.
