Echein.

The Echein are on the whole a subterranean race. Their home world is the Planet Equalbra. At some time in their history their sun became a red dwarf, rendering the surface uninhabitable, and as a result the race moved under the surface near to the core, to stay warm. After generations of living in the dark, the Echein bodies developed an alternate form of sight as their eyes simultaneously stopped working. Their eyes are now vestigial, and they use an alternate form of sight that allows them to see the molecular motion in objects. This allows them to see in any kind on light, even the complete absence of it. However this form of sight renders them unable to see the physical light spectrum.
The Echein have since populated other planets in other systems, but their eyes still remain useless. The Echein that still live on Equalbra have white skin from a complete lack of exposure to light. Those who live off world have redeveloped skin tone to prevent radiation damage.

The Volari are a race of humanoids. Their genetic code holds the pattern for two separate forms. One form looks nearly identical to humans, the other looks the same as the first with save for the addition of wings.

The Axian Sphere describes the Axian Galaxy's sphere of military and political influence over the neighboring intergalactic bodies. Commonly thought to exist within this sphere are all the bodies that make up the local cluster of Galaxies: Axias herself, the Andromeda Galaxy, the twin Satellite galaxies of Andromeda, Serphanis Major and Minor, and the Hullechian galaxy.

The name of the first Triton-Super Fortress and flagship of Admiral Nelson Mattocks' fleet dispatched to Andromeda in GSY 11,454. Also the name inscribed upon the ceremonial blade presented to Admiral Mattock's by the Naval Admiralty and Galactic Senate upon his retirement from the naval service in 11,495. The Super Fortess Excalibur was crippled in GSY 11,499 during action in the service of the Armeanain Empire. The Galactic Senate made a gift of the broken Fortress to the Emperor of the Armeanian Soverighty where it continues to serve as a base of operations for the Imperial Fleet under the codename 'EX-1'. A second 'Excalibur' super fortress would be constructed in GSY 11,500 and commanded by Grand Admiral Northil Dellinger until it's loss in action at the Battle of Eau in the Duckian Galaxy in GSY 11,505. Admiral Mattocks' ceremonial saber would become the signature motif of the Galactic Naval forces, being commemerated to history along with the legendary Admiral himself. Today, the image of a tip down saber is known across Axias, among every species and race of being as the galactic symbol of unity and Axias's freedom from tryanny, and it is tradition for every commissioned officer of the Galactic Navy to wear a naval saber at their side. The Excalibur Saber itself is claimed by Naval Admiral Brash Radigen, whose oath to uphold his Admiral's legacy binds him to it.

The intergalactic state formed by peoples of the Axian galaxy in the 1st year of the Galactic Standard Calendar, over 11,000 standard years ago. The founding of the Galactic Republic marked the end of countless millenia of warfare and genocide between races of the galaxy's population and to date, it is unknown how many entire species and races of people were wiped out during the endless dark years of strife that preceeded the Republic's founding. It is, however, commonly held in high esteem amongst Axians everywhere that thier Republic and thier agreement to live under government formed by themselves and instituted by representives they elect has saved them the horrors of chaos and voilence these last 11,000 years. However this galactic held belief has been challenged in the last century as the peacefully founded Republic has played a key role in several of the modern eras most significant conflicts, namely the Armeanian Wars. It remains to be seen how the current generation of Axians will regard the status of Intergalactic Superpower they inhereted from the previous generation that fought and won many of the greatest victories in recent history, reshaping the military and politcal make-up of the universe and forever changing the Republic's place in it.

- The Galactic Republic Navy -

Commissioned by special mandate of an emergency session of the Senate in 11,442, this is the fighting arm of the Axian service, a directorate with galactic authority, overseeing all operations of the Axian Galaxy's naval power, the training and readiness of her ships and soliders and charged with the defense of her borders and allies. The Navy was created in response to the direct threat posed to the Republic by the occupation of the neighboring Andromeda Galaxy by forces of the Flying Pig Imperium. It was commonly thought that if Axias did not rush to the aid of the stricken Armeanian Empire, that Andromeda would fall to the crushing advance of the Imperium and leave the door open for an invasion of Axias. The Naval Directorate is itself comprised of smaller component directorates which are assigned such responsibities as Fleet Operations, Readiness, Personel, and Intelligence. Each of these arms of the Navy is directed by an Admiral or Grand Admiral who oversees the function of thier respective directorate and answer to the Admiralty on Cytan.
The Galactic Naval Academy, also located on Cytan, is the premier school of modern warfare in all of the Republic, boasting among it's staff many of the Republic's foremost minds in the facets of naval engagment and tactics, armored combat, and infantry manuavers to name but a few. It is here that a being enters into the naval service after enlisting and becomes aclimated into the Navy's diverse and unique culture. The Academy essentially functions as it's own directorate and operates many facilities across the planet and in orbit, as well as many specialized training grounds and schools across the whole of the Republic.
The Directorate of Naval Operations, or the 'NavOps' as it is sometimes refered to, is the umbrella directorate
The Department of Naval Communications, or the 'D.N.C.' as it is called, is based on the planet Chorus and is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the Republic's Hyper Reality Impluse Network, wherby all Naval elements of Republic are interconnected. The network relies on the psionic link between organic entities called link nodes that are common aboard all Naval vessels. All link nodes are the genetic and psionic duplicate of the master node which is the heart the of the Fleet Command Nexus on Chorus.

Born of two loving parrents Phallen lived a fairly normal life. Never good with people he had few friends at school. This intensified when during his teens he ascended. His parents while proud of him, didnt know how to act around him any more seeing as they were unascended. To complicate matters more his wings developed as jet black, a not unheard of color but fairly rair in occurence. This set him farther apart from his age group. Some beliveing that the black wings were an omen of evil.
A few years after ascending. He was going home after school and was cought in the cross fire of a gang war. A gang of ascended volari were fighting a gang of unascended, the reason for the fight is unknown. In the insuing battle his wings were hit with a fire attack and were consumed in the flame. Leaving matching scars on his back where they used to be as well as scars from the flames cover most of his back. He made a quick recovery, but now did not fit in either class of volari, as he nolonger had his wings but still posesed his powers. He became more and more consumed in his pain, till as a last effort his mentor took him on a training mission into the mountains. Neither of them returned. The wearabouts of both is still a mystery. Though not long after members of both gangs began to show up dead. With their numbers dwindling, many chose to leave the gangs and find another way of life.
