Howdy. I'm posting in this thread because there just aren't many to choose from.
In any case, I'm Scott Lawrence, author / creator / artist of "The Elven". Notice the similarity in titles? The Elven is something I've been working on for about 8 years, and includes an RPG system ("coffee table" style roleplaying, like AD&D), a series of short stories, and, most recently, a webcomic.
"The Elven" does not include Gnolls, fairies, the words "elf" or "elves", or flying/floating fish. It also doesn't technically include Cities, since the current run takes place in unexplored territory (being explored). My main "gimmick" is that the races involved are called The Elven, and that is the only "elf-related" racial term I use.
I'm curious as to what you think of this situation, considering I'm considering applying to Keenspace very soon. I would be attempting to get the address
"TheElven.keenspace.com", which is unfortunately very close to yours. I also use "turn.to/TheElven", and
"TheElven.ownstheworld.com", the latter being the best(it prevents the popups from my webspace provider). I searched the keenspace database for "elf" and "elv" in order to make sure I wasn't sending coals to newcastle, and then I saw your title.
I do have "The Elven" copyrighted, but I don't expect you to change your comic name, certainly, especially since your webcomic is much more established than mine at this point. And frankly, the distinction, though minor, between "Elven" and "The Elven", is enough to keep it from bothering me too much. I just want to know what you think of the situation.
~Scott Lawrence
