How could this song ever become so famous?

Roth's lyrics characteristically center around what has been called "middle-class minutiae." Like many hip hop songs, Roth's song "I Love College" is about partying with alcohol and marijuana, but includes innocuous lyrics such as "I can get pizza a dollar a slice" that have been identified as "far from threatening".

I so want to kick that little shit's arse right now for singing about absolutely nothing and making money for it.

It's probably because he's Jewish and has some connections in the record industry or something. Normally, I try not to stoop to conspiracy theories, but this really is THE SINGLE MOST PLAUSIBLE EXPLANATON.
