As of 02/14/09 their news on the site said west coasters would be delayed in gettingit and international orders are caput

Tentacle Grape looks suspiciously like purple drank.

It should sell pretty well in Texas.

I have a gut feeling that this is a scam. (One good sign is that there are very few photos of the product, and the supposed Tentacle Grape could have easily been photoshopped.) Hell, the Something Awful people make more convincing looking "beverages" than the dodgy picture on the Tentacle Grape website.

Also, the nutritional information section looks a little weird to me. A real soda would have flavouring and colouring ingredients, sugar, and a few electrolyte salts. None of those are listed on the website.

On the other hand, it has apparently been served at NYCC, so maybe it does exist.

The TG website claims that international orders have been cancelled due to issues with customs.

Lulu, do you know anything about what those issues with customs might be? I mean, that's kind of your area of work isn't it?

According to Urban Dictionary a grapist is "a huge purple monster who sodomizes thirsty children.", so that makes sense.

I was just referring to a old joke about how a woman goes to a police station and says "Help, I've been graped" and the policeman says "don't you mean raped?" and she says "no there was a bunch of them."

Uh, never heard of that joke. Must be funnier with an Aussie pronunciation. G'rape, G'day, same principle, right?

More photographs on the cosplay Deviants website http://www.cosplaydeviants.com/index.ph ... temId=5782 seem to suggest (pics with the soda are at the end) they actually got the soda.

I also did find a couple links stating that at booth at a con it was being given out. So I'm leaning toward legit, unless the soda company is scamming across 3-4 websites.

I'm just ansy about getting it...stupid stuffs

Manauser: I think the joke is based on how grapes grow in bunches.

By the way, I necro'd a thread in Off Topic about this beverage in the hopes that someone could confirm or deny that it was handed out at Comic Con, but it only turned into a discussion about what kind of soda is best. Caustic, apparently.
