Eh - I've hosted tons of exchange students.

Chinese (Beijing) = gentle, humble, clever.
Chinese (Hong Kong) = rude, arrogant, metropolitan, bubbly
Italian (Northern) = congenial, love to party, very family-oriented.
French = fun loving, very proud, generous, caring
Japanese (northern/rural) = humble, tired, a little sad, proud of her heritage
Thai (hosted three at different times, not sure of region) =
All three were basically pretty similar in personality, outgoing, fun-loving, active.
Spanish = very similar to French.

Unfortunately, we've rented out our spare room, so we haven't been able to host any students lately. . .

Yeah, this group of kids were more "socially active" than any other, including the Italians. They were always going out, over to eachother's host-parent houses for parties, **constant** text messaging (this was about 4-5 years ago, so, way before it was kewl in America).

(they were obviously all from very well-off families too. . . even by California standards, they sort of thought that Americans were all supposed to be rich.)

Honestly, that group would have had a much better time had they gone to stay with host families near a major city; our town doesn't have much in the way of night-life, especially for under-age kids.
