I like to look at furry porn without actually interacting with the community. This lets me feel savvy and mercenary, secure in the impression (read: delusion) that I'm merely exploiting the genre, rather than earnestly appreciating it.
I'll post pictures later in the day.

After readering this thread, I realized something:
If a character is a furry or a mutant or whatever, I actually need to have backstory before I can figure out if it is arousing.
The character has to have at some point been human, and then forcibly transformed into whatever state we are talking about for me to enjoy the imagery.

For me, that's a surefire way to ruin the mood...
I mean, i enjoy backstories and all, but not in that way. They're nice, but can't we be just friends?

See... I don't know if I am or not. And, I think a very significant part of me has been expending a lot of energy on not admitting I am, if, you know, I am... Partly, of course, because I just... Don't know what that entails.
Well, just as sexuality is a spectrum instead of black and white, so too are there degrees of furry-ness (and BDSM, and anything else people have amade a kink/fetish out of). There's not really a hard line to be drawn when determining whether a person is a furry or not, and anyone who tells you there is is a goddamn liar.
A lot of people enjoy furry art without having a fur character, and that's it. They don't dress up in fox tails and ears and prance about the forest humping freindly woodland creatures (and the people who do that are generally considered freaks even by the fur community).
In a sense, furdom it's a bit like religion (not that I'm trying to be irreverant, it's just the best analogy I can come up with), in that everyone involved in it has a different perspective on it, so it means something unique to everyone.
Really, if you want to learn more about it, the best thing you can do is find some furry sites and browse them, maybe join a chat or a forum.
http://forum.yiffstar.com/ and
http://chat.yiffstar.com/ are where I spend most of my time, and addtionally they're both very active (you do have to register to actually enter either, but I've never gotten spam from them).

Aside from the slightly offputting(at first) cartoony look of some of her work, she has an impressive gallery of fetish work ranging from transformation(to both animate and inanimate forms) bondage, enslavement, body modification, anthro works, etc.
Thanks, I'll check it out.

It's a pretty freeform fandom. I've been thinking of actually coming up with a fursona, just for the lulz.

Mew, now I'm in the mood for android-girl and/or demon-girl hentai again. n.n;
Meanwhile, Honor's uncertainty about "what constitutes a furry" reminds me of the difficulty in defining science fiction, or RPGs, or life -- as I've said once before, "[life is] a category which includes anthrax, the Great Barrier Reef, the platypus, and (technically) Michael Jackson, but NOT fire, viruses of any description, or internet memes."

Thanks... I'll try to carve out time to have a look...
Another reason I've not done that -yet- though, is because some folks have told me there are almost no lesbians and very few women... that the community is mostly gay males. Is that your experience? There are plenty of females in the art...

Be utterly forewarned, this is serious guro and heavy other squick. Branding, mutilation, starvation, canabalism, torture(It's also the birthplace of the "It's Awwwwwright" image macro/internet meme), it's not for anyone without a strong stomach, regeneration of the main character aside.

I hope I don't get my Photobucket account closed for this.
In the interest of maintaining my own self-respect, I'll only be posting pictures that fall into a more benign category of weirdness.

Well, okay, one truly weird one.

It's almost gross, but the alien quality of it impels me to better investigate it.
Bringing up the rear are a selection of pictures from the "If the artist ever found out I was making these public again, she'd murder my ass" category.

Ok, now I usually don't go for the heavy anthro stuff, but I have to say that the depection of the owl in that is incredibly fetching... I'm not sure what it is, but she's positively adorable.

Many, many years ago, I used to wank to H. R. Geiger. But sure, Soriyama gave me wood too; but that was when I was an art student, and my favorite medium was airbrush. I used to fantasize that Soriyama and David Kimble would have a love-child and do cut-aways of airbrush hot fembots. (hell, I think I even wanked to David Kimble's cut-away of a Dodge Viper once).
But that's way too 20-years-ago.
Now; it's Bondage Fairies. Oh yeah. That's right.
